Re: How about some pics of Static dropped 60-66
I just got my truck. Its a 1964 C10. It is stock.
I saw an add on craigslist for a hotchkiss 4" and 6" drop springs. What else would I need to get in order to install it in my truck? I called Summit Racing tech and he said I need to buy a shocks for the front and the rear. Is that all I need? I plan on installing a power steering and disc brakes up front. I am still debating on converting to five lug. I have been looking at all the posts for a few days. I saw a post on redrilling the rear drums to 5x5.5" to match the front. I will post pictures once I figure it out. Thanks for the advice. |

Re: How about some pics of Static dropped 60-66
Finally back on the road with new suspension. ECE 2"/4" lower coils. 255/60-15 tires. I'll be going with some 255/70-15's when these wear out.

Re: How about some pics of Static dropped 60-66
Very shortly, this will be my daily driver. I plan to add power steering, 700r4 tranny, and vintage air. Like others, I have plans for tons of other upgrades, but it has to be operationally sound, first and foremost. Paint will come last. It will be '66 Madeira Maroon with white cab and stripe. Already have rest of trim for sides.

Thanks for the compliments. Nitto 555's, 245/40 18 front and 285/30 20 rear. Forgot to add cpp c-notch welded in rather than bolted.

Re: How about some pics of Static dropped 60-66
Quick question on the static dropped trucks. How many of you are notching the frame in the rear? I'm dropping a '64 long box, looking at "5 drop coils, or a combination of blocks & coils totaling "5 in the rear and wondering how necessary a set of bolt-in c-notches would be? Any opinions? Maybe pics of how close the rear axle is to the frame in your static drop setup?? Any info is much appreciated!!!!

Re: How about some pics of Static dropped 60-66
I am not sure of the "magic number" where you would add c-notch but I have had three of these trucks, two lowered, and the short bed was the lowest. I added the c-notch because it felt like I would lose control when on the freeway and hit a bump on the road. At first I could not figure it out because bumpstops are rubber and soft. Thought maybe it was the front end/bumpsteer. I noticed when I would add a decent load out back the axle was resting on the bumpstops. After I installed the c-notch it made a world of difference in ride quality and highway speed stability. I HIGHLY recommend it when lowering these trucks any significant amount like you propose. Maybe check distance between bumpstops and axle after you drop the truck to be sure. Just my .02...
