Re: 1949-50 3100
We are frenching the headlights and had to replace a section that was very thin from rust.
The repair piece is shaped tacked in read for welding. Frenching the light is fairly easy you just need to make sure the opening is round and flat to accept the new light bucket. This is a Hagan #4050BS kit |

Just scrolled through from the beginning of the thread. Looking great! Although I'm a little nervous now about what we might find when we get ours apart for a full resto some day
I'll look forward to following along from here... Very cool! |

Re: 1949-50 3100
Well with the Holidays over and UPS delivering again we started the insulation and wiring on the cab. The insulation is a little different than the usual shredded recycled rag fiber. This is made from recycled plastic bottles, Polyethylene terephthalate, and called Eco-fil. The brand is Thermozite and is has a single or double sided foil. I got tired of wrecking my scissors on that cloth fiber product because it had a lot of trash in the fiber like aluminum bits and copper wire snippet pieces. The Thermozite is nice clean fiber no trash and cuts easily.
The outside firewall insulation is 1/4" Thermotec fiber glass filled double sided foil. Next is the AC and column and drop it on the frame |

Re: 1949-50 3100
looking good, I'll look into that stuff. I need some for my headliner and back wall. I just used the rubber base stick on stuff for my floor. Found a place made in the USA.

On the headliner they recommend a high temp spray for the Thermozite insulation. |

Re: 1949-50 3100
A little more progress on this. AC is installed mufflers and pipes fabed up. We used S10 hanger rubber with 3/8 rod bent into a J hook welded one side to a bracket on the frame and the other to the muffler.

Re: 1949-50 3100
thanks guys ,,, yes it a VA unit.
We plumbed the fuel lines, filter yesterday and will button up the e brake and brake lines this week then drop the cab on it and start assembling the front sheet metal. This should start moving quickly now, it needs to be done by mid to end of February. I have another 50 project that just came in to make it a daily driver. |
