Thanks guys for the comments.

Kind of at a stand still on the cab right now. I had ordered some Evercoat rage filler from Amazon. It arrived Monday and I had planned to finish the roof and the back wall bodywork but it arrived with no hardener.

I contacted Amazon and they made it right by sending me a whole new can with hardener. Said they can't ship back the other can so it is mine to keep or throw away. So they made good on their mistake and I basically got a free quart out of it. All I need to do is buy the $4 hardener.

But it is not arriving until Friday. So I won't be able to use it til Saturday thus I probably won't get the top of the cab in color as I was wanting to by this weekend but oh well. I might do some sandblasting today as it it going to be cool.

Yes it is. Just that it put my plans on hold so I shifted gears and did something else.

Fired up the sandblaster and blasted a bunch of parts this morning and then got them into primer. Steering column assembly, brake pedal assembly and E-Brake assembly.

Re: 64 C10 Stepside "Jaybird"

Did some sandblasting this morning and got the parts in primer. The wife made chili and corn bread for lunch so that constituted a nap! After that repaired 2 chainsaws, the lawnmower, changed some light bulbs in the kitchen, and then vacumned up the shop and it was quitting time.

Mostly heater parts and some other miscellaneous parts.

I'm going to have a massive painting session here soon. I have so many parts in primer that need to be shot with color.

Sitting on the early train on my way into London.... Gotta love technology.

Drooling for your dinner, despite the fact we had roast chicken, potatoes and roast vegetables, followed by red berry fruits, crushed meringue nests, a dash of ice cream with whipped cream on top...... Nicola made us a "last supper" in the kitchen as the builder is coming in today to repair the ceiling, replaster the walls which are textured etc.... So we will not have a kitchen for a while as he fits us into his regular job, but it saves a lot of money.

Looked at all your primed up parts and have to say, you seem to have boundless energy.

Looking forward to your truck coming together.

Re: 64 C10 Stepside "Jaybird"

Got some work done on the 64' today. It was sunny and 75*. Crazy Tx weather. It was 43* and raining 2 days ago.

I made some more progress on the cab. I had one more dent on the front of the roof I took care of. Then I laid down the seam sealer in the drip rail. Was going to shoot it with surface primer and block but I ran out of seam sealer about 3/4 of the way through. Have another tube on the way should be here on Tuesday so I can finish on Turkey day.

Bad pic

Since I was stalled on top I decided to tackle the bodywork on the back of the cab. It was in pretty rough shape. A big dent right below the window and various across the back rail. I had 4 filler sessions and I think I have it as good as this amateur is going to get it.

I also discovered why 2 of my brand new tires kept going down. The inside of the wheels I bought were rusted pretty bad. They had tires mounted on them when I bought them and I just had Discount Tire mount the new ones. Had I known how bad they were I would have cut the tires off and blasted them the first time. Oh well.

No Kidding. Nice truck mate.

I worked this morning on the 64' but forgot to take the camera with me. Many of you have probably read of the mess up I had with the 3M seam sealer I used on the roof drip rail. Several areas did not cure properly. So I had to strip a bunch out and go back down to the metal. I did all that even though I was aggravated as hell at it. Hate doing things twice. I got some new epoxy primer down on all the messed up areas. Didn't have enough time for it to cure to put down the new seam sealer. The plan for that is on Thursday. I did do some final body work on the eyebrow above the windshield. I also plan on seam sealing everything thing else around the doors, rockers, windshield, drip rails, cowl area. Any place I think needs it. Once the tube is open its game on as the last one I had I used half of it and it dried up on me.

Came home around 4p and started on Rocketship Mark VI. I have had it glued up for sometime but never had the motivation to turn it. Well it came today. Fully turned and the fins glued on. It is ready for some coats of Poly. I plan to give this one away. Hopefully the recipient will like it.

Chucked up in the Lathe

Main body turned to size.

Shaped and sanded

Fins laid out. I used the template I made for Rocketship Mark IV

Fins all glued on.

I want to thank Rian(Grizz1963) for some much needed positive motivation.

Re: 64 C10 Stepside "Jaybird"

Well, it seems, depending on our logistics that mate Martin and I will be in the USA in October next year.

Need to figure out logistics etc......

Here is a great thread for you on various mechanisms to fit truck cabs solo

http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=652804

I do not know if the measurements Martin got you were enough, but if not, let him know what you need.

May catch you later on Skype, if I can figure it out.

Wow that's pretty crappy that Discount didn't say anything to you prior to mounting those tires

Its a small pot type sandblaster. My dad made it many years ago from 2 propane tanks. It is similar to what you can buy from HF or Eastwood.

Yeah it doesn't surprise me. They looked at me kinda of funny when I brought in the wide whitewalls. Not a common thing anymore.

Re: 64 C10 Stepside "Jaybird"

Rian, if you plan goes through as I hope we might be cruising around in the 64' next October!

Yesterday I worked on more bodywork on the 64'. Blocked the roof and back of cab twice. Its getting real close to paint. I keep finding little sanding scratches and bodywork that is not perfect. A few more place with glazing putty and it will be ready. And for those of you that followed I got the 3M self leveling seam sealer in the rain gutter sorted out. It seems the original tube was old and didn't set properly. Lesson learned. Buy fresh materials. I'm happy with how it came out. There are a couple of places where the first application and the second don't match up perfectly level wise but its on the roof and anybody under 6 ft is never going to see it.

Also went to see the Mythbusters Behind the Myth Tour last night. It was awesome. Jaime is a lot smaller in real person.
