Re: 1963 GMC C30 panel truck
Thanks Nik! Looking forward to seeing your front end come together
Progress today! I got all the front end put back together and the bed wood out. Will be tracing out the old pieces onto the new maple plywood. I will be pulling the rear end out of the dodge and the fuel tank and the last of the wiring and brake lines. |

Re: 1963 GMC C30 panel truck
Thanks! Lots still to do, want to drive it real bad hahaha
Thanks Johnny! I agree, kinda what I was going for. Mosley want it to be good for hunting and camping. O yeah, thanks Nik. Should be on the road soon. Have a bit of a dead line, September 10th, let's see if i make it! Bit more progress Pulled the rear axle out of the Dodge, took it down to my bro I laws work, and got her sandblasted and tacked the perches in the approximate location. Frame width difference, 34" wide on the panel and 38" on the dodge. All the rear suspension has been refurbished and new bushings installed. Mangled a front hanger though, bit of a hic-up. O well she can be fixed hahaha |

Re: 1963 GMC C30 panel truck
I got the drivers side bed wood cut, 3/4" maple ply wood, stained and I'm just about finished with the urethane protective coat. Just want to say thanks to the lads given me a hand on the project. Jake, Aaron and Lachlan thanks for your time!

Re: 1963 GMC C30 panel truck
For sure! Can't wait to see it all laid out with the metal strips and the stainless hardware I got for it.
Progress is limited at the moment. Ran out of shielding gas, will be in tomorrow. Working on refitting the heater box. Got a new fan motor and some other parts on order. Went out to the scrap yard in Port Hardy yesterday, picked up some seals for the drivers side window. And bonus! I found an 65 910 step side buried way out in the back 40, locked in a dense patch of alders. To bad looked like it was a mint truck. Had bloody alders growing right out of it. RIP. The doors were still in good shape, will be back for them later hahaha. But I did score the outer cowl panels With the 910 decals and the antenna base I needed. O yeah. I will be heading back down island on the 27th and I'm off till August 10th. More progress to be had. |

Re: 1963 GMC C30 panel truck
Those emblems are from a 66 gmc 910. 1966 was the only year gmc out of all the 60-66's that had the square "gmc" letters. All 64-66 Canadian gmc's had the cowl emblems unlike the c10's which only 65 had cowl emblems.

Thanks for the advice, I going to try and trade then for some 930 decals or sell em will see. The NOS and repo GMC decal market is pretty thin so might be a stretch. Might be better off to go with some thing else, was thinking of making my own design and incorporating the Cummins badge. Finally got some clear on the walnut for the dash. Here she is! |

Gauges look good, is this the emblem you want? From a 60-63 Canadian gmc 930, currently in my collection

Here is what I have figured for my heater box. The mounting location for the blower motor housing is now being taken up by the exhaust and turbo so here is what I came up with. Just relocate it! Picked up a new blower motor too |

Managed to get some work in hahaha, started to tack the fuel tank together. Goals: lots of fuel and make it fit!, ingredients: aluminum and lots of time. Should be pretty cool, got some time on the tig. Tough stuff, thanks Aaron for the pointers eh! |

Re: 1963 GMC C30 panel truck
Now on to there rear end,
I got the frame hangers, leaf springs, axle and shocks with cross member installed. Got my pinion angles figured and welder her up. The Arctec 223 did a nice job on the perches! And horse shoes! The rear drive shaft just bolted right up! Last edited by AJCK87; 08-17-2016 at 07:26 PM. |

Re: 1963 GMC C30 panel truck
Started some work on the drivers side door bottom. I was hoping to save this work for later but the door doesn't fit in the jam since I did the rocker. O well. Fabing up a new bottom and moving the whole thing up a 1/2". Patched up the bottom corners on the door skin also. Don't think I'm going to have the truck on the road for September 10th. Dang! Well now I can make sure it's really good to go be for I get her rolling. I definetly want her on the road for next summer!
