As this is designed to be a bolt-on performance upgrade from the OE, (and it is awesome for that) the load capacity is greatly reduced. With a 250 lb spring, I would say 500 lbs would be the max. But this could also be appx 400 lbs tongue weight. If you went up to a 350 spring (it would ride a little stiffer empty but still good) that would give you appx700 lbs load and 500 tongue wt.

i have been watching your youtube vids for some time now, and really wanting to use your stuff, but it will be on a 1 ton truck, that will be towing a 28' enclosed trailer. and wasnt sure what the springs would handle. going to have to scale my tongue sometime i guess. it will be a while before i get to that point of the build anyway. and thanks for the reply

In that situation, I would do a heavy duty 4-bar with air bags. That would get you the best in ride quality and towing capacity.

Ive been looking for a new trailing arm setup and really like both the fat bar and the oe arm setup. I already am running slam specialties bags how can I use these bags with either of these setups? Thanks for any help

Our trailing arm system is really built for coil-overs. We do have a bag/shock version of the FatBar, but it is designed for a tapered-slider style bag, not a double bellows. Not sure how much you want to hang on to those bags in the big picture.

I need to keep the bags for hauling atvs and other parts. Will my bags work with the fatbar setup? Thanks

Slam bags are typically the DBL convoluted style. The Fat Bar uses the 'sleeve' style bag. To use double convoluted bags where sleeve bags are intended to go requires investigating clearances, set-up dimensions, understanding possible performance differences vs what was spec'd, & possible fabrication changes.

So, is there a possibility of using your current bags in a kit where they weren't intended/spec'd for use? Sure. But only you or your builder can answer that question. Ideally, you need a Truck Arm kit that can utilize bags or coil springs in the original location to use the DBL Convo style Slam bags.

It's possible, but as Scotti said, that's now in the 'custom build' realm. I can set you up with a trailing arm or FatBar kit with some parts deleted and some other parts added to help, but then it's not really a packaged 'kit'. Some custom fab required.

BTW, the F9000 slider bags hold 1500 lbs each at 100 psi. So, 3000 lbs total - the appx 800 lbs of sprung weight on the rear axle of the truck leaves around 2200 lb load capacity. I used these bags on the JT for years, towed trailers and hauled parts with no issues. And, they don't feel like jelly when the truck is empty.

Rob, I would like to use F9000 bags on the rear of my 72 lwb in the stock location on the trailing arm. I would like to have a softer ride than my current 5” springs but be able to haul more on demand. Do you know what the effective spring rates would be related to air pressure? What pressures do you run in the rear of JT and how tall are the spacers or brackets that you used to mount the bags? Thanks!

I have a 72 C10 that is a leaf spring frame and I’m looking at purchasing this kit with coil overs. But I am measuring everything to see it it will work. The only part of this kit I have doubts is the panhard bar mount that bolts to the drivers frame I’m unsure if my boyd tank or c notch will be a problem. Can you give me the measurements of the mount so I can factor that in. Thanks. I have included a pic of what I need the dimensions of and my frame

They had it listed when I posted this. But it is gone now, Looks like possibly it didn’t work out as well as they had hoped. I’ll check out the ride tech website

The Vikings come in different lengths, just give NLE a call. They have enough knowledge that they can confirm whether your concern is real and order you the right part.

You select the coilover length for the ideal amount of travel at ride height given your suspension mounting points. You don't want the shock to be your travel limitation, and generally you want to maximize stroke (longest shock possible). Increasing the static ride height doesn't always alter your bump stop and shock mount location, and therefore may not decrease your shock length as you may expect.
