Re: ** YOUNG FRANKENSTEIN ** The truck Chevrolet should have built.

Well here I am at the current end, the headliner was a deal even with the tip. The description you have been doing has kept my interest all the way through. As I said before you do truley awsome work. When you did not get first place at Super Chevy I felt dissapointed as surely you did, I guess you could sai I fwlt your pain.If you build another project Please let me know, I don't care if it's a popsickle stick or a Vette. The house looks very nice and I am sure you are and justifiably pleased with how it is turning out. My hat is truely off to you SIR !!!

Re: ** YOUNG FRANKENSTEIN ** The truck Chevrolet should have built.

Ok, I got another Al's Liner kit and the correct amount of tint this time. Mixed her up and re-shot, perfect this time.
I'm also ready now to trim out with fabric my lower valence. Going to bed now though.

It does really look good, but more than anything it allowed me to not have to replace my bed floor that is totally beaten up. I didn't want to have to spend $1000 on a floor, paint it perfect, and then never be able to use it. It IS still a truck!

Re: ** YOUNG FRANKENSTEIN ** The truck Chevrolet should have built.

So how similar or different was it than spraying texture? I've heard they recommend using a harbor freight texture gun to spray it. How thick did you go?

Looks really good!

Looks great, Drew! I'm an Al's fan as well, what was the trick to compensating for the white in the liner? What brand of base coat did you use? How about them fumes? Whew!

Sorry I didn't explain much on the Al's.
The primer fumes are the best!!!
It has a shortish shelf life, make sure you get a fresh kit when you are ready to spray it. I had one kit from 1.5 years ago that had 2 parts already harden up on me.
I used 3 kits to do my bed because I wanted it really thick like Rhino Line does them.
I had my paint shop mix up a pigment only batch of paint for my color code. 8 ounces of colorant per kit. Throw away the black colorant that comes with the kit and add yours instead. THIS is the thing that sold me on Al's. I did not want a sea of black on my trucks inner bed because it really takes away from the looks of the truck. Matching bedliner - awesome!
It is really not too hard to spray, I used the gun that Al's sells and have done 2 other paying jobs with it already. When word gets out you can do a color matching super high quality bedliner, total strangers quickly want to be your new friend.
I barely pull the trigger to do a very fine texture or pull it wide open to do a heavy texture.

Here's 3 pictures from last night. The lower dash now covered in material. Its just sitting there, not ready to bolt it up yet until I mount a couple more things.

Drew

Very nice touch, plus you still have factory (non hacked) dash under that mount.
Nice detail.

Wow! Let the imagination run wild. What's next? Love the Ipad ideal. Question for you are you planning on covering the door panels too? I think that would really tie the whole interior together. Or do you think it would be too much?

I had to cover up all the useless factory holes, so I figured a big flatscreen would do the trick. iPad is just that much cooler. It's in for the Power Tour, but really I need to integrate it into a music system that I haven't even begun to dream up. Surf the web, navigation, watch a movie and one other thing are it's uses currently.

Re: ** YOUNG FRANKENSTEIN ** The truck Chevrolet should have built.

integrating an ipad into your sound system is a piece of cake. You could run a headphone jack stereo OR run one with the usb2 port, this will keep it charged constantly as well as allow you to switch input modes on the stereo to allow your music to come through. Just keep in mind, law enforcement officers frown on movie viewing from the driver's seat! Also not sure what size memory you have, but 16 gb isn't a lot of room for apps and music. I have 9gb of music on mine and it's only 2294 songs By the time the kids get angry birds on there you won't have room for more than a couple movies!! Running the usb cord would allow you to swap out and hook an ipod up as well.

Thanks,
I have a plan, just not the time, nor any room for a stereo head unit, but I've got that figured out too.

I'm not sure what I'll do on the door panels. I may get blue
carpet bottoms and Cheyenne Super wood grain panels.

Oh, yes! Wood grain panels would look great and bring out the glove box. I think you got something there... Can't wait to see what you decide.

as for the stereo, why not make your ipod mount hinged with a catch and hide the stereo behind it. David
