Ahhh yes, two nesting boxes.

One side has a regular family every year of Starlimgs.

I made it of pallet offcuts and some kindling

Shed building aside, Prozac seems to continue to earn its keep.

Managed to return a roll of roofing felt early on Saturday morning dropping the sheds cost by £21.00 again.

Then off to Katy's place for the rest of the weekend to do some house work.

I have yet to add up the costs of the overflow shed but suspect it may still end up under £150.00 which is a bit of a bargain for a space designed to get me some space and back on track with restoring the C10 truck.



Speaking of C10 trucks, my friend NevEno (Paul) in Oklahoma found this amusement park coin in the truck he is restoring, under the carpet.



I did a load of shed painting at Katy's place over the weekend and a few other little jobs.

Then back home tonight I carried on with a few little jobs just before dark.


At Katy's place she has two sheds, one is a great outside utility room, used for tumble drier, freezer and storage space aas well as ironing room space. Small but perfect.
Except it had never had a coat of paint or wood preserver since being put up.
So it's bugged me since day one.
Last weekend I made her choose some wood preserver...... colour selected against my advice.

Turned out to be a bit David Dickerson (very fake orange suntan)



So a trip back to the hardware store (Wickes) and paid more than double what I paid for a 5 litre last weekend and get some brown, maybe an improvement?



My arms have been giving me hell the last few weeks, tendinitis and who knows what else goes on inside, but certainly not working as they should.

But today I gave the utility room shed a second coat and started on her garden shed and finished that as well. We also removed all the shed windows (plastic) and covered them in some application type film.

Second Shed needed attention too.



Finished.



Came home around 7pm and unpacked, fed Harley and gave her some attention, then back to the garage.

Made a finial for the new shed as Ronnie the one lodger insisted it needed one.

Gecko is a nod to my late mum, gone 20 years, but still makes me smile.



Facia done.







Next up, shelves and get it all full of excess stuff.

Back to work in the morning, weekend over.

It's amazing how two or three hours just disappear after work.

And it does not look like anything was done.


After work I squeezed in some time again.

Helped Mickey next door for a while, guess what, building a shed.

Then I came back to continue painting the new shed one more coat of wood protector

Last night I had filled all the gaps between the planks as well.



Also painted the rear wall again and the new facias on that side.

As well as the bricks and blocks that I had used to create the dry wall next to the shed.



Finally tonight I also reflected the small shed, the felt has lasted 10 years and is decidedly tatty now.

Happy with the result.



Still have not started to make the shelves for the shed so I can start emptying the garage and driveway.

Shelves........

I said Shelves.

Seems I cannot even listen to my own advice.

Was going to do shelves tonight after work, ended up flooring the shed instead. One inch planks on one inch spacers.



Mickey came to do quality control and inspect.
He is always great company and often shares great advice and shortcuts.

So being the shed is odd shaped, he stepped on the last angled wedge shaped plank so I could cut it down.



Does not look like it, but the floor is actually very level.

Really pleased with the outcome.



I also fitted a twin 5 foot strip light that Mickey had brought around before as well.

Next time I get to the shed will be some time Saturday, hopefully to do the Shelves.

Well, it seems Harley has a new mate.

Dukey was brought back and dropped off on Friday night by Nicola as there are a few issues at her new home and it ultimately affected him.

Harley was completely beside herself with joy when he got delivered, good news.

He has lost a lot of weight since he left 10 months ago, and his mood is clearly low.

I can only hope he settles down and regains his old persona.

This morning at 05.15 he started his day off by singing "The Song of Tuna" so I got up to feed him and Harley, then spent some time out in the garden with them both and a mug of tea.







He even made hImself at home on Katy's lap earlier this afternoon after she had cleared up my garden beds and planted a few plants for me, so hopefully headed in the right direction.

Time for hedges again as well.



So today I came to the shelves at last.

Some planning, three handed working and a decent helping of swearing made for packing up early and Katy making me stop for a nice lunch of prawns, (Shrimp in 'Merica)Waitrose bread and some fruit.





Possibly one of the silliest things on this shed build..... fitting my Biltong meat processing cabinet on the one gable walland suspending it from the roof. 500x500x900mm



By 18.15 this was the state of affairs.

Much shelves everywhere, and of course it increases useable surface area.






Bootfair in the morning, and then hopefully down to Whitstable or possibly even Canterbury for a break away.

New cat in the house, well he was a foster kitten originally, and Nicola took him when she left but of course he came back on Frida.

This morning, interestingly it was again Harley that woke me by 05.00 not Duke. So I fed them by 05.30 and had a mug of tea, surfed the web, then headed out to one of the two bootfairs I usually go to, except, halfway there a lot of rain, and I realised that turning back made more sense, so came home and went into the garage to retrieve some cans of paint that would never be used again and started to paint the Biltong cabinet, and the shelves and supports I fitted yesterday, making it look like a clowns boudoir.

I also dropped some paint and then splashed some more on the floorboards. Watch this space.



While painting the shelves, I put the ladder I had used to get to the top of the cabinet outside.
Those who have noticed the bird houses in the trees saw the one above the shed, it has a family of starlings, same as last year, however, Harley is a hunter killer when it comes to wildlife.

This was this morning, while I was inside the shed, I noticed her on the stepladder.



When I got in tonight..........



Highly unlikely to be this brain surgeon.



After Katy got up and showered, I closed shop, shoe reread etc, then we were off to Whitstable for the rest of the day.

Got very lucky, got a parking space at the harbour, then went walking for 2 hrs in town.



Loads of little shops, and then loads of city style shops, unfortunately making their way into this seaside fishing village, and killing of its old character.

Still, there is some humour left in the old shopkeepers. As evidenced by this shop sign.

This made me chuckle



Katy was in heaven too, clear road signs ensured she never gets lost in town.



Once done shopping and walking around town we returned to the car, Katy went off to get us fish and chips which of course we had sitting in the rear of the Prozac-mobile.



A fully functional fishing harbour, this place is always buzzing, and a nice place to spend a day.



After this we went to look at a Skoda Fun for PedalcarJoe (Ernie) and then took a drive to a small seaside residential village called Seasalter.

Home by 18.00 and concluding a great weekend.

Back to work in the morning.

A good day out is a great thing, you,know this from taking your Mule everywhere.

Always hate losing bootfairs to weather or Katy not being interested.

However, we really need the rain, and have had 48 hrs of soft penetrating rain.

I know this is not a cat or pet forum, but again, some people are interested in, or have various pets about that help in the garage, get under your feet etc.......

I was really saddened when I saw Duke back the first time.

He had lost a lot of weight, and was clearly depressed. If that is what cats experience when very unhappy.

I am just really thankful that he is on the mend, and a week into him being back, he seems a lot happier, not completely right yet, but happier for sure.

Harley still terrorises him, as she did ever since she was a kitten and he was 18 months old though, but they get on well.

I suspect Tuna is his Prozac though, 1/3 of a tin in the evening for dinner/treat three nights running. Only once a week otherwise he will be demanding it three times a day.



During the day.....



And after hours when I get in from the garage, he likes a bit of a cuddle and to tuck down for a bit then he goes off again and lays somewhere in sight. Likes the company I think, same as Harley.



Looks like I will be alone this weekend, so the shed and garage may just progress at a decent speed.

I hope to get the shed filled with "stuff"

Insomnia sucks. But sometimes its got its uses.

Awake and up by 05.00 and cats fed plus forums read by 06.00 the next thing was to go to the garage and kill some time as I had an ultrasound appointment at 10.00 in Dartford.

A few weeks ago when painting Katy's sheds she decided to throw out her Gas BBQ as it was grubby. Yes....... I did ask.

Anyway, she bought a new one at Wilko for £70.00 and had her dad assemble it.

I dismantled the old one and kept the frame.



So this morning as I had a couple of hours to kill before heading out, I thought that adding some solid oak floorboards Mickey had dropped off months ago to the top of it would make a neat side table.



Used the shortest piece at 700mm as guide.



Used a rubbish bin for radiusing.

Cut some corners.



Sanded it all and smoothed the edges.



Happy??



Not quite........

Wood needed some treatment on top and below.

Second coat later when dry.



I trust she will be happy to use the scrap.

Shed time when I get back home.

Well, Edit

Now sporting three coats on top and the sides and two below.

Good enough for the patio I guess.

John, I post up all my ramblings so that we have a shared resource of knowledge and ideas.

Please do use the idea if you can.

Only went to one bootfair today.

Got some nice bits.

Katy asked for a Lopper for her garden £2.00, she bought a new gas BBQ a few weeks ago, so new fish griller and sausage holder for £1.00 and a new, pretty rubbish bin for her daughters room at £1.00 was her wins while she stayed home in bed.

I found another drum pedal, looks new and unused, with electric switchgear inside, perfect for truck gas pedal converting.
Also a set of 4 new VW alloy centre caps for 50p
A Hozelock garden sprayer for £1.00 (I have one and gave me spare to Katy last weekend as she did not have one.

Bought some McDonalds Bacon and Cheese flatbreads for brekkie on the way back and had them on the deck with Katy before she left for her home by 09.15 as her one daughter is home for the weekend and she has a family get together today.






Not bootfair related, but started clearing up in front of garage yesterday, cutting and chopping a load of wood into kindling and packing it away after cutting and clearing the front and one side hedge.

Went from this......



To this by late afternoon around 18.00

Hope to get the rest cleared today.




Amazing how time flies when you get distracted.

Got rained out twice yesterday too.

Thank you.

I tend to keep my eyes open and of course tend to pay sensible prices.

The tobacco jar was only £3.00 in my hands, however, I believe it's worth at least double that in the right hands. More importantly, I liked it and wanted it for the price of a burger and drink. Except I get to keep it longer than the taste lingers from the burger.



Added a small overhang to the front of the shed this morning.





And tonight as a last job I changed the wooden ramp for a cement one. Mainly to make access easy but also to keep any potential rain out.



Job done as far as clearing out front of garage.



Once the garden tools are out of this cabinet, it will get moved and my dummy petrol pump will go into this space.





Weekend over, knackered.

I know animals are not everyone's cuppa tea, but they keep me sane, at times.

Two weeks in, I am getting dribbled on by Dukey when he sits on my lap, his is good in a cat world.

I get sung the "Song of his people" and "Songs of Tuna" daily, and in the evening as he works hard for his dinner.

The nice thing is seeing him out in the mornings, something he did not do for 6 months or more where he lived before.



And the face of a cat who managed to negotiate himself a pack of wet food for dinner.



Anyway, back to other stuff at hand.

As is usual this time of year, the hedges needed cutting back, I din front and Mickeys side last weekend, but it fills a Wheels bin, so auto-governs how much you do.
I took two hours from start to finish, and managed to get soaked in a thunderstorm and cloudburst, no reason to stop by the way.

Showered and went off to town to do some banking and then off to the local (8 miles away) Turkish shop for some smoked spare ribs for BBQ tomorrow and other groceries.

After this a small special treat........

Turkish lamb Pide and a Turkish coffee to follow.

I love this sort of meal comfort food but lightweight.



On the way home I pass the Fenn Bell pub and Zoo, and saw a steam truck in the car park, had to turn around to go take a look.

Replica of a 1935 Steam truck, built in 1980 and just lovely.





Pic of the lunch the stoker and driver were making in the fire box...... smelled goo and looked great.
Photo does not quite show size perspective and hot glow.



On the way home with the van I also stopped for a quick car wash, these guys are great and I like to support hem.

Unfortunately their industrial pressure cleaners blew some of the red paint off the wheels.
I had never keyed in the paint when I did it originally but is is now repaired and I keyed it and sanded back a bit.



Bootfairs in the morning and a BBQ for Katy's family.

Hope I find a bargain or two.

Never went to bootfairs today.

Got stuff going on that has my head scrambled.

This little van...... I continue to love it.

Used it to collect an engine stand I bought two weeks ago that @CraigRK collected for me. He lives about 65 miles from me.

Engine stand is for revising Chevy truck engine when Paul and I redo the bottom end seal and timing chain cover that needs to be redone.

A greatly functional tool.

Then over to Katy for a big family BBQ where I am cooking.
