LOL, thanks for the 112 !! i like the mooneyes better...but i am cheap, got these for $19 apiece, and yes i am still doing them like yours, is it still working good ??

ok here are some pics of the notch cover progress,the two humps on the back is what i did to cover where my hinges are coming out , anyone help me try to figure out where to mount these struts to make them work right ?

here are a few more pics , i need to fix a couple issues that the 22's on the rear caused, 1. The driveline now hits this crossbrace , so making a little notch there that will double as the center brace mount for the forward notch cover brace ! 2. The upper airbag mounts need raised 3/4 of an inch (i am also going to add a brace to them) 3. Shocks are 1 inch to long , i have a set of shorter ones coming

Are the ends of cover going to remain open?? Had a friend fight those short shocks-changed to a "slidebar" on each end-3/16 x 1 1/2" flatbar-15-18"long
mounted on an angle -when cover comes up to desired height -bar had a notch that engaged-had small spring to make it snap to notch-to close-just take weight off slightly and push back-kind of like one on my tractor engine cover-or look at early corvette hood latch--either are very effective--there were 2 slidebars on the friends cover so it would sit level-also they slid in a bracket -very slick but simple-don't have pics though...............jim

by the ends do you mean each side where it butts up against the wheel tub ? if so the answer is yes, the way those wheel tubs angle outwards toward the top make them very difficult to get a nice tight gap on either side and still allow it to open , i think the gap is as tight as i can get it now with nothing on that side so i just smoothed out the tubing real slick and will just paint it ! Thanks for the other prop idea, i might end up doing something along those lines !

I like this gas cap from Speedway it is $119, 4 and 5/8 inch cap , 1 7/8 fill neck, what do you guys think, i always like a bargain anyone know of ones like this for less ? This is the cheap version of N2BILLET's....lol and i still want to make it cheaper !

I don't want to spend your money, but I would pay extra for the crafty-b one because it is hand-made in the US and not mass produced. A lot more unique...but you have to pay for it.

I agree those are the coolest , just out of my budget I thought the 119 was to high I think I am going to check out some industrial websites and see if I can come up with something cool and unique

My 68 Jag XJ6 had two like that, one on top of each quarter panel for the dual fuel tanks. They held water around the rim and dumped it into the tank when you poped the cap. I installed some drain tubes in the wells to give it somewhere to go. Bad design putting them completely horizontal without the top cap sealing to the body. I'm sure the newer caps like that have a better design that keeps the water from getting in.

Mike, after looking at how crafty-b makes theirs, they don't look to be terribly difficult to make. I am sure you could have one custom built out of aluminum or stainless for less, heck if you went stainless you could use milk line for a base and with the way the flanges are on the ends they are already grooved for an o ring and you would just have to weld on a hinge for a cap, it could probably be done for less than that 119 you were talking about spending. Just my 2 cents...

setting at work messing with trying to figure out how to route my lines without criss crossing each other, the way Accuair has there lines set up they criss cross instead of having both the pass side come out of one side and both the drivers side come out of the other side, i dont understand that ??
