Re: What did you do to your truck today!

Put a can of seafoam in it for stabilizer to get it ready for the winter. I'm trying to find indoor storage for it but may end up with a portable garage.

I was going to use stabil but read the seafoam can and it did say it is also a stabilizer, so I get the advantage of the cleaning of seafoam.

Re: What did you do to your truck today!

Went to my son's house and we, my son and twin 17 year old grandsons, switched cradles with suspension on two trucks. Took the stuff off of the '71 and put it on my '67 with a '69 swb frame. The '69 cradle and suspension went on to the '71 frame.

I know it sounds a little confusing, but we are building a '67 swb stepper with power brakes and steering for me and a '69 lwb with a '71 cab for one of my grandsons.

Re: What did you do to your truck today!

No fresh pics today. Over the last three days I hooked up with a guy that's coming to the shop to straighten out the lines, do body work, and paint. Hourly deal. We'll get to know each other as we go along.
But I feel good about his qualifications. And building the paint booth at the shop is far better (because of my previous mess ...one year at someone's shop who said eight weeks... ),
than sending it off to paint jail.

Installed the Vintage Air evaporator in the cab. Re-bent and installed some stainless fuel line from the carb to the fuel pump. New radiator hoses top and bottom.
Began the install of some stainless steel brake lines, starting at the m/c, down to the prop. valve, and the first two lines down passed the frame.

Because the cab is a '68, and the evap needed to be moved to the right 4", I had to cut a little more out of the fire wall for the one Vintage Air hard line.
Made a template for the aluminum plate that's going on the fire wall.

Got all the parts for my 4 wheel disc brakes ordered (putting my own kit together saved me a bunch of money)

Measured the framerail and started getting my rear gas tank cross members designed.

I was in the 2nd lane on 101. Lady in an explorer pulls out from behind me and passes and I assume she realized she was in the diamond lane and gets back in front of me. She has dark tinted windows I couldn't see past her. Next thing I know shes hard on the brakes and there is no way I can out brake her on wet pavement.

It's "my fault" because I was behind.

Re: What did you do to your truck today!

I got most of my front bumper tacked together.

After tracing out my cardboard templates onto the steel plates with a marker... My bumper grew a little bit. I was probably anwhere from 1/8 to 1/4 inch oversize in some places. I'll have to retrim a couple of pieces before I go much farther. Not a big deal. I noticed that might be an issue after I cut the 4 smallest pieces and was able to adjust for the big pieces.

Fantastic photo! Daddy's little helper! We, ( both my sons & I ) would pick up materials for our home projects with our 71 when it was a long bed. And they were right at the age of your little one. Now both are math majors (20&22) And yes time flies! So take plenty of photos & enjoy! cheers, Pat p.s. drove the same truck now short bed fleet to my shop and she ran great even did a little speed run!! Pat

Cool Re: What did you do to your truck today!

Helped a good friend move some rear-ends and wheels from his shop on Sunday. On the way to his house a new Benz felt the need to jump right in front of me and make the first entrance into to grocery store, The other four just wouldn't do. So I slam it down from 4th to 3rd and all hell broke lose. The old T-10 didn't like that at all and now I'm afraid it is dead. I haven't pulled it out yet, but it doesn't sound good. Now might be the time to put that 5 speed in. I'm going to pull in tomorrow and I'll post some pics.
