WE were talking about Fresno a while back. I just realized my dad was inducted into the United States Army 24 June, 1943 in Fresno, CA.

I was a fleet manager for long time. I got a lot of shoulder shrugs and "don't knows".

When I was in the Navy we called that a "reserve salute". Those guys would make rate but didn't have any answers if you asked them a question...just a shrug. I don't get how making it to 1st class PO and having to pass the tests works, I guess.

Nobody ever knows anything about it.

I asked about a trailer fender laying in the back lot. Mechanic said the story he got was a blow out tore it off. The holes were all still intact. I made a wild guess and bet the mechanic. They had loaded it such that the fender was pressed against the tires. A few miles down the Interstate and the sidewalls wore out.

We had a twenty foot tilt trailer stolen this week. Was it in the fenced lot. NO. Who parked it beside the road? We don't know.

My utility trailer has removeable sides. I worked up some soaked heavy oak at a friend's place and loaded it up. I got about two miles and realized a trailer tire went flat... cold wet dreary night. The sidewall was sliced through at the tread all the way around. Back it up to a year or so earlier and that fender had fatigued at the welds that mounted it, so I bolted it to the expanded steel side until I put new fenders on, which are sitting in the shed. Worked out well until this day. The sides are held down on each side by a rubber Jeep hood latch near the front. Hit a pothole and the rear of the side can pop up out of it's pocket. That must be how it was when I loaded it, so the side was bulged and the trailer was squatted from the weight... max load. The bolt head went to work on that tire as soon as the trailer started moving. So there you have it. Perfectly good, almost new, tire and wheel ruined.

The oil field is no different. A couple years ago on a Saturday evening we had a tweaker short out the solenoids on the locked electric gate and break into one of the back lots at our main headquarters. All non employee assigned company vehicles are supposed to be inside the shop locked up tight. Well said tweaker found the 06 K3500 parked outside the bay door with the keys in it... no one even noticed it was missing for close to a week. It had a gps on it so they were able to recover. Nothing was missing, and according to the gps it had just been Baja’d out in the desert for the time it was missing. I actually bought that truck from the company a few years ago. My father in law still has it. Of course the first thing I did when I bought it was change the locks because said tweaker still had a fob and key for it. We never did find out who left it out there with the keys in it.

My son in law, Scot, and I passed by one of our material storage bullpens 100 miles east of here yesterday and the telehandler was parked outside the gate. Actually, it was parked across the gate because the new gate was incomplete. The machine did not have the key in it. I was impressed.

This is quite a thing you started Larry (other, I guess. I don't know either). Almost 100 pages. I'm not going to jump in and be all familiar, but I will say that what you told us of John made an impression on me and I'm sure he is missed greatly by many.

As far as Facetruck, it's kind of brilliant. Really enjoy seeing all the different types of vehicles people are involved with. Other projects, including work and home. Seeing parts of the country that I haven't been yet. Funny idea that you started off, and actually is more worthwhile than the real thing.

When I started it I figured we would go a couple of pages and it would peter out. As it turns out, we have gotten to know each other and it's all tied together in a nonsensical sort of way.

It was funny to go back and see how it started. I couldn't remember exactly. I just clicked a page or two in the middle and had a laugh or two.

I also was reminded Chevyland is in the middle of his Christmas tree season.
