Re: What did you do to your truck today? Chapter II

I'm taking advantage of my truck being parked for the winter to do a few projects. Tonight I finished installing a new turn signal switch in my non-tilt column. It went easier than I thought, but I couldn't see any way of feeding the molded, half moon shaped plug through the small opening in the housing. I ended up making a clean cut near the dash connection and resplicing the wires back together. Turned out pretty good I think.

Re: What did you do to your truck today? Chapter II

Swapped out my Flowmaster Super 50s for a pair of Dynomax 17615 Installer Turbo mufflers dumped under the axle. ....Little quieter, but not as quiet as I would like. Don't have the room for a larger muffler without rerouting the pipes..

Dumping the exhaust under the bed is always going to be noisy , try full length pipes and enjoy the quietude .

Yea...I know....the space I have between the axle and bed is very limited and I don't want to go to a muffler shop to see IF they can make the 2.5" pipes clear.
If I go to a shop, I would probably have them reroute from the headers back.

Working on firewall mod to put the dash back in but make it user friendly when needing to pull it back for maintenance when needed.
Stretched dash with mods in back ground.

Swapped out the pair of Dynomax 17615 installer turbo mufflers I just installed back to my Flowmaster Super 50s. Turns out the turbos we not any quieter than the 50s and sounded crapy at idle and revved. Shipping them back.

Was able to get more paint off the heater box. I hope I can get it all off and so, return it to OEM grey plastic glory.

Re: What did you do to your truck today? Chapter II

I removed my gauges for a good cleaning. I plan to repaint the silver on the edges and then put the wood grain decal on it. I used self adhesive wood grain shelf paper on the glove box door and ash tray to see it I liked the look. It turned out so nice and matches the decal from Brother's Truck so well I might just leave it that way. OPINIONS?

FWIW ;

I like the sound of a robust engine ~

I often don't run any muffler at all but them I have nearly stock engine .

A crossover on a V configuration engine will always make it run better and mellow out the exhaust bark at the same time .

I can't imagine a rig so low you can drive it but not have space to run a 2 - 1/2" exhaust .

If the pipe gets too close to he bed wood , simply install a sheet metal heat shield like GM did back in the 1940's , it worked perfectly .

Re: What did you do to your truck today? Chapter II

I've had new fender emblems sitting on the bench for a couple of years now, so I decided to change them while my truck is parked. The bed has been pulled and new bed wood is being milled and prepped. I pulled the inner fenders as part of the job, and I am going to have them painted to match my exterior paint.

It has been a few years ago but I think I did it by removing the pins from the half moon connector by just depressing the little tab. I wrote down the color and what hole they were in. If I had to do that today I would just take a cell phone photo of it.
