Re: What did you do today not on your truck...

Was going to put a new exhaust on my old truck over the weekend but ended up:

- changing oil and rotating tires on the 4runner
- working on a leaking sink in the laundry room
- golf cart went down and had to troubleshoot to the micro switch in the pedal. Waiting on a new one to arrive. I have a drawer with probably 12-18 micro switches and none would work, of course.
- cut a large pine tree for a neighbor and also the last one I wanted out of my yard

We left some of the shelves that had oil stains over there, but I'm going to look more closely at them. One problem is that my F-i-L put a hose bibb in the garage, and it sticks out of the wall to the edge of the shelves. I could scalp all those shelves off the wall and put in a shorter nipple, but those shelves have stains from oil cans being stored on them. I don't know if there would be decent wood left if I planed those shelves down. I'll have to really look. Wood one gets nowadays looks like feces. My son does handyman work and fixed some chairs for little kids at a local private school. The wood he got was grown in New Zealand, and I kid you not, the growth rings were 1/4"!
A lot of clear white pine I get is either from New Zealand or Sweden. It amazes me. I guess worldwide ocean transport is so common these days it's more economical. Here are end cuts from the siding and a ceiling joist on that 150+ year old building I'm working on. An interesting jog in the grain I'm curious about

Moving it along. Sounds like a good plan.

You'll never get that exhaust on there if you keep procrastinating like that

Sounds like me. I hardly ever get anything done as planned. Always get "steered" into getting something else taken care of. And I that's not from having a wife!

I got nothing on that, unless maybe something damaged the tree and it just didn't "heal" right?

Dang Bill. Slow down a bit. You are pushing yourself way too hard on a weekend.

We made a trip to south La to see the new grandson.

Congrats on the new grandson! That's a worthy trip any time.

I hear you. Didn't really even take the time to consume any cold drinks of my favorite variety either. In truth, the trees took the most time. The one at my neighbors was all of 90 feet tall. Took it down and limbed/bucked it up so he could push it into a burn pile. My pine was a bit easier at only about 50-60 feet tall. Had it down and limbed/bucked in about an hour and a half.

Forgot that a third neighbor came over to get two logs out of the tree I cut and I helped him put those and a few others in the backstop he was building in his back yard for a new pistol range.

This weekend is off the table. Wife and I are heading to northwest AR for the War Eagle craft show and then I have to head up to Branson to play golf with a VP of my company on Sunday before a big meeting on Monday/Tuesday. Yeah, tough life.

Congratulations on the new grandson . I have two grandsons and a granddaughter. There fun and when the get cranky I can give them back .

Went from bodyman to stone mason in one day . Fixed the area that the top of the drywell gave in . Fixed that this spring finally found the time to finish up . Didn’t take a picture after I spread the joint sand

Been cleaning out storage trailers and inventorying what I actually need and what can go. I have about 15 different ones of these cold air balloons that no longer get used due to zoning restrictions. 30' tall and a bugger to setup and take down by myself. Takes 3 guys on top of a gas canopy if the wind is blowing

They have a pretty nice little motorsports museum near Williams Grove. It's right where the small fairgrounds (horse) track is where the auto racing got started before Williams Grove track was built, as the cars got faster.

Cleaning and painting at the rental house, now that the deadbeat renters are gone. Getting close to the finish line, with selling the place.

Re: What did you do today not on your truck...

a couple of weeks ago,i mentioned how my wife and i were leaving here on Oct 8th for a run to Medina,Ohio to visit dear old friends,Bob & Diane.Bob is struggling with pancreatic cancer and not doing well.they wanted to come here this year after covid finally calmed down a little but now that he's sick,he can't go anywhere,so we loaded up and went to see them, with their permission of course.i can't imagine being sick and having "company" but they wanted us to come and wild horses wouldn't have kept me away.we got there and found out that he had,in his collection of things, some old Canadian coins and had a key chain made for me with a 1913 penny and one for my wife with an 1885 penny.i polished mine up and hung my truck keys on it today.a special key tag for my special truck.

Re: What did you do today not on your truck...

Started a test fit of Hedman 3/4 length stainless headers #62010. Only had enough time to do one side so far.

Plenty of frame clearance, but a little tight by the TH350 trans. I'll trim some plastic from the dust cover and maybe hit the aluminum with a grinder.

Made in USA. Welds are beautiful.

Not the same, but similar. This married couple were both lawyers who would rent really nice houses and pay no rent. Although most people who rent don't have one, Maryland requires a "renter's license" to "legally" rent a home. Knowing the law, these lawyers would first check if the renter was licensed, then move right on in and ride on legal processes a couple few years, then move on. I don't think they trashed anything but the renter's finances.

Put a new flat plug on my trailer wiring. Had a small grass fire last spring that burned under the trailer and melted the end. Put new bushings in the rear leaf springs on the neighbor’s golf cart. Tomorrow I plan on working on my CJ project.

Re: What did you do today not on your truck...

well i should have been working on my truck but wanted to get a few things put to bed for winter so that later this week when i start on pulling my truck apart and the motor out,i won't be tripping over stuff in the way.too much fresh paint to look after.i put the Mustang on my trailer and backed in it's little corner, the wagon beside that.my Dodge truck still to put away where the tractor is now but that'll happen shortly when the 72 truck goes in the bay with the lift for the winter and the tractor goes over where the green truck is now.tomorrow i plan to to digging some trenches for some drainage pipe and later in the week or the weekend go at the green truck and pull the engine out for repaint.lots to do.

I think that the bathroom in that shop is likely bigger than the "shop" I have to do woodworking in.
