Re: How about some pics of 73-87 Long Beds?
Picked this one up last fall. Recovered the seats recently and freshened up the interior a bit, however, the seat covers need a little time in the sun to tighten up.

A few pics of some LWB squares that I had. The two wheeler was my daily driver back in 2000, and the 4x4 was my DD in 2006.

Re: How about some pics of 73-87 Long Beds?
They work well, mostly due to having a big block and 4spd standard, an auto and small block won't be so great, done that before..learned a lesson that time. Glad I went from a 14.50" wide tire to a 13.50" width, helps a lot and steers a lot nicer too.

Re: How about some pics of 73-87 Long Beds?
Just wondering. I had 17-40/16.5s on my '66 chevy with 4.56 gears and was happy, but is has a 350 and sm420.

Re: How about some pics of 73-87 Long Beds?
You are right with the small block, I think overall 4:10's would work a bit better for me but to big of a chunk of cash to change what only has a little over 5,000 kms on them and thinking of upping the anti on the big block a bit in the future, the 530hp is good but think over 600 would be a bit better, plus I do one trip to an outdoor large car show once a year and it runs about 2,200 with the 38.5" tires so the 40"s will maybe be 2,100 rpm @ 60mph so considering that a bit. Trip is 350 miles one way.

Re: How about some pics of 73-87 Long Beds?
I bet the 16.5 tire would drag the small block down a bit to wouldn't it, a whole lot of tire there. I had a set of Pit bull's that were 35"/16.5 wide, wow was that a bit of tire. here is a pic of my last truck.

Re: How about some pics of 73-87 Long Beds?
Our new 82 Silverado C10. Has just 91k original miles, was a garage kept Georgia truck until last month, now it's a garage kept SC truck! Will post pics soon.
It's gonna need a carb and valve seals and some minor stuff. |

Re: How about some pics of 73-87 Long Beds?
Here's my truck. Just brought her into the family this past December. She's had a good life, but has sat for 2 1/2 years prior to coming home with me. I had been looking for a truck like this and got tired of seeing it sit there... to pretty to let her rust away to nothing.
She's a 1986 GMC C3500 Custom, 454 w/ Quadrajet, 4 speed manual, in bed kingpin (inverted 5th wheel setup, where the trailer has a 5th wheel and the pickup has the kingpin). She's cancer free, tho the clearcoat is starting to peel just a tad. What's everyone think? |

Re: How about some pics of 73-87 Long Beds?
Pics of my 82 Silverado long bed. It's an all original garage kept truck. Hardly looks like its 32 years old! Everything is original except for the tires, seat cover and paint is about 20 years old.
