Re: What did you do to your truck today?
Started to get the bed put together. I had a friend of mine finish the wood, strips and hardware to look worn and rusted, I think he did a great job....

Re: What did you do to your truck today?
He used 3 different colors. The wood is oak and the stains are gunstock (dk.grey) red, and a brownish color. Also the strips and bolts we used a acid wash on them and then he used a rust patina with a flat clear over the top.

I also drove my truck for the first time. And fortunately didn't hit anything. Almost ready for road duty.

Here is all the "rusted" hardware I'm using. A few days ago this was a brand new zinc plated hardware kit. We are going to use stainless washers and nuts with this treated bolt kit.

Yesterday I readjusted the glovebox latch, reattached my dome light so it isn't flopping around and figured out why me gas guage only would show half full when full. Some idiot had put the float on the sender backward which caused the float to only go up half way. Oh yeah I'll admit it, I,m the idiot..but it works now.

I am with ya! I can totally understand why some of the guys here rebuild a bunch of the same style trucks. That way they take advantage of the learning curve. |

Re: What did you do to your truck today?
I went out to wake up the old girl from her winter slumber and she pissed on me One of the freeze plugs (the one behind the dipstick and starter on the 305) rusted a 1/8 inch hole in it.... Tomorrow I get to try to get to the lil bugger w/o too much knucke skinning
Think im going to have to change them all pretty soon.... when one rusts thrue the rest are prolly not too far behind |

Re: What did you do to your truck today?
I ordered a new brake booster and master cyl, can,t afford disc brakes yet so a booster and I,ll split the system will have to do. Shipping stuff from your side of the planet to here is getting ridiculously expensive but shopping locally is even worse

Re: What did you do to your truck today?
Finally getting a chance to work on the truck again.
Stripped the pod hood down to bare metal, it was so smooth when I started, because there was 1/4" of bondo on it in places. It's a little rougher than I thought it would be- but it only cost me 30 bucks and I'm building a "ratty" truck anyway so it doesn't bug me. It now weighs about 1/2 as much and it was funny hearing the dents pop out by themselves as I ground the filler away. Used those 4" fibreglass paint stripping wheels from harbor freight- really chewed through the bondo.

Re: What did you do to your truck today?
Burned a 2" hole in my brand new carpet trying to get it to lay flat. I'm a danger to myself and others with a heat gun, I guess.
