Re: What did you do to your truck today?
Wasn't today, and I don't have pics to post yet (they are still on my phone, and this is the first time I have had a chance to get on a computer, and I'm at work). Over my weekend I was finally able to do my 5 inch drop on Tanya! I have a few things to work out from the drop, but she looks great and rides surprisingly well for sitting on the front bump stops. I'm hoping to get some time with my computer in the next couple days, so I should be able to get the pictures I took posted to my build thread.

What did I do to my 63 and 66 today?
Nothing on the 66. Made the decision to use the motor and tires below in my 63 build. Low stance hot rod style. No SBC because thats what everyone else does. No 20" wheels and slammed because I want to be different.... Yup.. 66 on hold for parts on B/O. Time to collect all the stuff for the 63 shortbed fleetside... Dream dream dream

Right on for Poncho power! I still want to use my Olds 350 in my 65, but now with the factory 4-speed. Found some aftermarket adapters (bellhousings) that will be a bolt in fix, but they are all over $400 and I'm cheap and broke. |

Re: What did you do to your truck today?
Cleared an area in the garage to store my hood which I'm planning to pull tomorrow. Need to spend some time cleaning up the firewall and inner fenders for fresh paint.

Re: What did you do to your truck today?
My Pontiac is a direct bolt in. In fact, I had my 440 inch motor in my 66 for a few days, broke the cam in and pulled it out because I have too much rumpety rump in the cam.
The motor will go right in the 63 too. The only modification I had to make was to top rail of the frame a little narrower to accept the 79 motor mount plate and drill 1 hole. I am going to get my 15 year old boy out there to wire brush the frame and then use that brush on frame coating and prep I got. The Olds is a direct bolt in too. I have BOP standard bell housings... no adapters needed that I can think of.

Re: What did you do to your truck today?
I decided to try out an idea that's been rattling around in my head for awhile. I always thought some contemporary Corvette wheelcovers might look like something someone would do back in the day. I had been shopping for some cheap ones on eBay. Then, my dad independently came up with the same idea, so I felt justified. These are from a '65 Corvette. They aren't perfect, but I did strip all the black paint out and repaint them after someone did a horrible job with a paintbrush. They didn't cost a lot, so I figure they're a good gamble. I love the way the six holes line up with the six lugs. They kind of remind me of a 1960s Hot Wheels car.

Re: What did you do to your truck today?
finished with the bed boards over the weekend - white oak with Minwax "natural" stain + 4 coats of oil-base polyurethane all around - test fit everything this morning and it kinda makes me want to paint the truck black (in primer now)…

Re: What did you do to your truck today?
That'd be OK for you because your truck is a little older, but I'm not going with wide whitewalls, because those wouldn't have been cool by 1963/4/5. Plus, those earlier Corvette wheelcovers are fastened on by those wheels with the bumps on them like a '56 Chevy, so you couldn't get them to work on my original wheels. But I agree, many a great custom have been run those older Corvette wheelcovers!
