At a roadside overlook. The bathhouse has been closed temporarily a long time ago. Protected by the chain link, still all intact

Now there's something you don't see every day. A phone booth!

I have almost exactly the same phone booth in my garage. I still need to hook it up. It's only been 3 years so I'm right on schedule.

My wife wanted to put it on the front porch and I said no way. Do you know what kind of people that would attract?

Yeah... a lot of those are gone too!

I meant a radiator stop usually found on a hill or mountain road switch back with a steep climb at a surface spring to fill or top off your radiator.

Kalifornia being 80% hills used to have them everywhere, they stemmed from the Model A era before the good cooling systems. Usually there was a sign that said "Radiator Stop Ahead"

Re: Random Photos ‘You took’

That area around the bathroom building is all fenced off. I wonder if that phone is still connected. Did anyone notice the red/orange & white '72 K/20 in the background? I didn't until I was taking the picture. It's an excavating contractor's shop next door and looks like they fixed one up

Same with roadside overlooks. I can remember those and roadside rest areas with picnic tables and stone grilles to cook on.

Here's something you don't see on the roadside any longer. Might see a toll booth both not a toll house!

Re: Random Photos ‘You took’

My Grandfather's last watch, he died in 1983. It was stored in my Grandmother's attic in the blistering summer heat and freezing winter cold until she passed in 2003. Then my Dad took all of the things out of her attic and stored them in his attic in the blistering summer heat and freezing winter cold. My Dad passed in May so I cleaned out his attic and there's the watch. After almost 40 years in that type of environment, I wound it up and seems to work fine.

Re: Random Photos ‘You took’

There ya go! Just what America used to do right. Make great products at an affordable price for average people. Sure, they had Seiko and the other expensive quality brands back then, too. But you didn't have to spend all that excessive money to get a quality timepiece. Timex were made for everybody.

Timex founded in 1854 as the Waterbury Clock Company in my home town. My Grandmother worked there. It was also one of the places where the Radium Girls worked. They got radium poisoning from painting the dials.

Re: Random Photos ‘You took’

It was pretty hard to get this guy to just be still for a second and sit on the penny while I hold a flashlight in one hand an my iPhone in the other hand. After about 9 tries putting the flashlight and phone down and rounding him up and putting him back on the penny, he got the message and stayed there for about 4 seconds. Then hopped away.

A year ago this week I was visiting my sister and brother-in-law in Sebago, ME. This is their barndominium. Shop not barn. The end with the screen porch is their two story home. Go straight from the house into the shop to a warm floor all winter. He put heat in the slab and runs a wood furnace.

Re: Random Photos ‘You took’

I rode up there with another sister and brother-in-law who was playing at a wedding for his niece in Portland. I got to visit a few days with just me there. The night they came to stay I got moved out to the shop for sleeping quarters. Suited me just fine!

My newest sign for the garage. Straight from Bulgaria. Anybody want to take a wild guess as to what it says?

I'm not asking what it says. I know. But I'm not talkin. Ya gotta guess.
