Re: My Facetruck thread.
It was sold at the local dealer. I have lived within 5 miles of it since it was new and I did not know she had the truck until the auction a couple months ago. I have coffee with the salesman that sold and delivered it to her farm. It only shows 76,000 miles. I can't find a panel on it that is not dented.

Here's the tow truck my friend spotted across a junk yard and new it was the one his dad bought when he got back from Vietnam. He ended up selling it to a body shop who painted it green. My friend knew what he was looking at from a distance, climbed over cars to get to it, affirmed it was the truck, and waited till the owner (son of deceased owner) sold off the cars blocking it in. For now it's a pretty fall decoration. One day it will be restored

Re: My Facetruck thread.
On that same cover, "Vintage Bronco restoration" article listed and picture of vintage Blazer getting bashed. I guess it's easier to bring back a dead Bronco than get an old Blazer to sit still long enough.
I think that non-original Kmart mirror was bothering the owner and he didn't have tools to remove it.

Re: My Facetruck thread.
Steel studs will cost more. Plus you will need engineered shop drawings.
Does make for a well built structure, and it's varmint proof. |

Re: My Facetruck thread.
Who says you can't stretch and shrink time?
This time last year I picked up steel studs for an office build-out and was amazed at how expensive they are now. So many prices shot up in the past year. I'd hate to see what they cost now. I know the steel roofing shot up in price, so goes to figure.... $^^^

Re: My Facetruck thread.
The price of steel studs is crazy high. More costly then wood especially, as you get into the heavier gauges that are needed for structural walls.

Re: My Facetruck thread.
We finally ordered floor joists for the new house today. I need to take some updated pictures.
Meanwhile, we have been remodeling an apartment. This load of construction waste went to the recycle center. (The waste is on the trailer.)

We all know what a trailer queen is. Yours is a trailer king
I'd say I can't wait to see pictures of some framing, but I know you can't wait to take some!

Re: My Facetruck thread.
How's this little old homebuilding side job going? Has your winter been as mild as ours here? This whole month has been at least a little above average, if not more. No measurable snow at this point, which is a new record (Jan 25th)

Re: My Facetruck thread.
I was thinking earlier, I need to get some current pictures. The weather took a turn for the worse here. Sno messed us up last week and now a threat of ice tonight. This coming week looks bad but then smooth sailing for a while.

Re: My Facetruck thread.
I saw a temperature map and it showed the cold scooting across the US hanging north to pass above us, except further south along the Appalachians and your mountain ranges. We will getting a big dip in the jet stream this week to 'cool' things off a bit. I hope that misses you all.

Re: My Facetruck thread.
Larry Did you go with TGI's for floor joist ? Last job I used them on was my nephews house and he wasnt to sure about them until I got them in place with all the centering parts and the 1-1/8th Plywood on top of them.. could drive a car on it ,, now its OSB not quite as strong ,, but way cheaper.. as for metal studs . .I wouldnt want them in my house because if you ever had a fire ..it all will fall down .

Re: My Facetruck thread.
Nice finishing touch. Is this local custom work? I'm a sucker for roll & pleat. My '67 interior will be done that way, in black.
