Re: What did you do to your truck today!

My trimmed and crimped A/C hoses were back in my mailbox from Vintage Air.
Total of one week to turn around from San Antonio, TX.

Around here, there's no one to do the job right. Vintage Air knows some of us live "in the woods".
So they offer the cutting and crimping service free of charge.

Cost me ten bucks for freight...that's all. And it's done to my lengths....and to their specs.

Re: What did you do to your truck today!

Installed the Radiator, Hold down clamps, front headlight buckets, battery box, hood, cowling and started to align the gaps in it all. What a job!!!!!!

I ran out of paint to black the clamps and the top of the radiator out. So they are just primed.

I just hope I dont have to take the front clip apart again.

Here are some pics.

Re: What did you do to your truck today!

Climbed under the 68/71 for the forty-first time in two months today.
The "T" on the front stainless brake lines (the "T"'s stock) is leaking.

Came home and looked for the "T" in the LMC catalog, since I bought the 7-pc. stainless "kit" from them.
I just wanted to go ahead and buy the "T" they sell in case they'd opted to provide some strange fittings with
the stainless lines.

Turns out, they don't sell a "T" for the front lines. I know because I called them and they verified they don't sell the "T".

"So", I asked, "Can you tell me the thread size and pitch so I can go buy a "T"?" "You see, the lines are already on and I don't want to
lose ALL my brake fluid".

The nice lady put me on hold. Then she came back and told me she had "exhausted all her resources".....I said, "Okay, so what is the thread size?"
"If you sell the 'kit', someone must know if they are stock "T"'s.... or otherwise."

She said she'd "put in a ticket" and that someone would call me. Naturally, that didn't happen.

Oh, well. If it were easy, everybody that wanted to spend more on something than it's worth would be doin' it!

Entropy...If you search "Entropy" on this board another member posted a picture of the one he bought. The one I ordered has 1.250" tubes and dual 14" fans, $790.00 is still a lot of money (includes shipping) but close to half the money of a BeCool radiator.

Get out and drive the truck this summer and have some fun!
It sucks not being able to hear!

LWB trucks rule, if you don't think so measure your SWB!
After talking to tech support at Air Lift I have found out that the kit I need is 60811. Per the measurements I gave them. Ride height of truck inside spring and inside diameter of springs.

Talking Re: What did you do to your truck today!

Picked up 4 copies of "Vintage Truck Magazine", that my truck was featured in. November issue, page 44, brown 1970 GMC from New Carlisle, Ohio. It was the Mid-Ohio Mini meet, held at the Vintage truck show, in Yellow Springs, Oh. Only place I could find the magazine, was at Tractor Supply Stores. Are they nationwide or just local? Will try and post pic tomorrow.

Saw your truck in Vintage Magazine and also the 68 Chevy below your picture.
The mag is published in Yellow Springs, at least that is the address the editor
uses. I have been a subscriber for several years, great truck only truck mag.

Re: What did you do to your truck today!

I fabricated a bracket for a 7 pin RV trailer plug. Then wired the plug and brake controller into the system. I should have done it when I re wired the whole truck as it took a while to make it look like it was not added after the fact.

Re: What did you do to your truck today!

we (my son and I) dug a little deeper into the front disc conversion yesterday.

pulled the old boost/MC off and compared it to the new one. Can you spot the new one?

You can see in the picture where we took measurements for the input shaft(aka pedal rod), hole center to hole center was (9-1/8" - 9-3/16")
.

Here it is mocked up for a photo

We also bought a new complete front line kit. More details on it later

And a peak at the disc clearance on our new 15" wheels. Just going to clear.

we had fun and got REAL DIRTY...

O yeah, almost forgot, I had him remove the lower A-arm shaft like my dad had me remove then back in the day... The hard way...
