Re: What did you do to your truck today!
how else do you remove them then if you dont use a crescent wrench? j/k lol. But seriously Thats how I did mine... except instead of a hammer I used a 3' cheater bar I had laying around worked real slick. and the ball joints how are you supposed to get them out other than a BFH, cause the shop press wasnt cutting it when I went to use that!

Re: What did you do to your truck today!
That is a small hammer compared to the sledge we used to get ours out!!!!
We had a very busy weekend!! We did the following.... 1. Cleaned and blacked out the inner Grill Shell. 2. Put the Inner Grill Shell and the Grill together and put them in. 3. Installed the back Glass. (lots of Dawn soap was used!!) 4. Installed the gas tank. 5. Test fitted the seats. Found out I have to buy a between the rails tank.(that is going to hurt the pocket book!!) Thaose are my two... This is my sons truck. He is getting impatient to say the least......... |

Re: What did you do to your truck today!
Finally got the truck inspected so I can start driving it legally. Passed without issues but the inspector did not like the strong accelerator springs. I told him I had two springs so I would not push it down too fast. He said it made him press it down too far too fast. Must have scared him!!??

Re: What did you do to your truck today!
Huh...all this time I have been watching Sam's thread over in the 60-66 section, not realizing I was playing in the wrong field. Recently I got a good score on some inner rocker/floor side repair panels in a trade for a Suzuki Sidekick I sold. Today I am working on fixing a space to be able to work on my truck.

I replaced the AC duct that goes to the driver side ball vent. It was easier than I thought it would be.

Re: What did you do to your truck today!
Started out to put on another water pump and alternator I pulled from my 69 GMC parts truck. Then decided to do something else.
Still got some work to do, like adding the chrome bumper that came with my 70 GMC 'burb and was taken off and stored in 1970 when they welded on a big ugly front step bumper. Guess you could say this is what happens when you have time and parts and no money. Now I don't have to replace the headlights in the 72 Chevy front end!

Re: What did you do to your truck today!
Put a cover over it for the winter. Too much stuff going on to enjoy the wrenching.
I found I was thinking, "I have to get over there to get some stuff done". Then I remembered why I have her. To have fun. So....Who cares when she's done? I never really completely finish, anyway. Maybe when the sun comes out I'll finish a drib or drab.....But one guarantee: I'll have fun while I'm doing it.

Started rebuilding my D60 kingpins, got the old ones out pretty easy and now I need to get a 7/8 allen key to torque down the new ones.

Re: What did you do to your truck today!
Pulled about 4 pounds worth of mouse house out of the heater boxes on my 71 K20. Looks like at some point the heater core started to leak on the PO, so he just routed the heater hose back into the motor and decided he could live without heat. I'm guessing thats why he didn't notice when the mice in his neighborhood turned the heater boxes into a Hilton. Completely rotted out the metal baffle in the fiberglass outer box, and started to rot a hole in the metal inner box. I also see that the plug on the heater switch was cut off and a toggle switch was wired direct to the motor. Should be fun trying to figure out what wires should go where.
