Oil change. Was due for one. It'll finally be nice enough (no salt) to go back to daily driving it tomorrow.

Re: What Did You Do With Your Truck Today ?

I finished making my floorboard templates out of cardboard. I also managed to remove all of the front suspension. I found someone local that is going to buy it from me.

Re: What Did You Do With Your Truck Today ?

Great picture Red Foreman, seeing pictures of these trucks in public is so inspirational since usually most of our pictures are in workshops.

Case in point, those following my build thread, know I'm upgrading to an over drive. Since there very little information on these as I was considering purchasing one and I take a lot of pictures, I'm show my progress.

Gear vendors unit, I read as much as I could. I found no problems with the strength and longevity of the over drive itself. I did however find some had issues with it behind a four speed, which I do not have, and some had issues with the unit that allows you to create a 6 speed out of a 3 speed automatic.

The negative remarks I saw were from 5 years ago, I believe the bugs have been worked out of the auto programmer since then.

Basically, it attaches to the back of the trans using an adapter for your application.

I don't want to hog the thread with pictures, but I do have more posted on my build thread.

1957 Chevy truck re-rebuild. Yes Ogre, I should have listened and put my build thread here already, we never listen, sorry.

Re: What Di)) You Do With Your Truck Today ?

lost both sets of keys to the expedition. drove the truck from round rock back to kingsland where we are moving to. 57 ran great, no overheat, 2200 rpm at 60, 2500 at 70+, alt charged, oil pressure way up there. Wife was along (she has sworn never to ride more that a mile in it) complained about the shaking and rattling.

Re: What Did You Do With Your Truck Today ?

Nuthin. Spent today at my daughter's house installing baseboards over the newly installed laminate flooring we've been putting in the entire house the last few weekends.

I wish I could get back to my truck. Tax return coming fairly soon so I'll have some funds to make some progress.

Received my carb insulator and ceramic paint is 14 days cured now. Now more parts to put on engine. Still in teens here in Boston - too cold.

Re: What Did You Do With Your Truck Today ?

Yesterday I tore out the engine wiring to clean it up & make it serviceable, also installed a Mega fuse in between the alternator and battery. In the process, like a rookie, I touched B+ to radiator ground. Sprung a leak. One step forward, one step back. Over the next couple weeks, though, I'll be going over a lot of rush jobs and squaring things away.

Re: What Did You Do With Your Truck Today ?

Last weekend I did a little more on my radiator support. I bought a 65 mustang radiator (I think a 67 may have been a better choice as it is a couple of inches wider) I'm going to have to kick it out at the bottom a couple inches so I still need to make some brackets. I was out of gas for the welder.

Re: What Did You Do With Your Truck Today ?

Picked up a pair of radio knob delete "knobs", turned out seller was a member here Robs57. Got to spend a few minutes talking with him and his son about the projects. Nice warm shop and the truck looks great in person.

Re: What Did You Do With Your Truck Today ?

Been a while since I been here on the forum. Life happens, gotta do what you gotta do......
Well yesterday I picked up a nice running 307 from a guy about a hour or so from me. Got to hear it run and look it over just before we pulled it from a 70's pickup he was going to build. Ran really smoothly sounded great and only had one small oil leak around a value cover. It sits nicely in my shop awaiting a clean-up.
Today my older son and I made a run to Summit Racing south of Atlanta to pick up a few items. Nice afternoon trip only about 80 minute drive, Got me a transmission crossmember, new short water pump and a new aluminum radiator. If I now can get the shop cleaned up in the next few weeks I hope to start back on my 53 again and add some new info and pictures to my build thread.......if I can find it again
