Anybody can do the easy stuff. I appreciate when I see someone takes a longer, but more traditional route. Good work and more visually appealing.

Re: What did you do to your truck today. The 3rd chapter

Well, I tried to drop my truck off at the alignment shop. I stopped in and talked with the guy two weeks ago. At that time he said he might need to keep it a bit to get it set up right on his new machine. No big deal. Called yesterday to arrange dropping it off today.

Pulled up at opening time and guys asks what I am there for. Told him I was the guy that wanted him to align an old truck. He asked, "What year?" I said, "67" and he replied he couldn't to it because he didn't know if he could manually put specs in his new machine. What I got from that was all of the sudden he didn't want to do it.

Well, I was irritated but calm. It will cost him in the long run because I know a lot of people in town.

Re: What did you do to your truck today. The 3rd chapter

Unfortunately, I have gotten used to that kind of treatment. Better for them to turn you down than to do a bad job.

Things I consider myself lucky when I find someone who knows how to do it- PROPERLY:

-Adjust a carburetor. Actually, to do anything with an engine that doesn't have a computer.
-Install a windshield that uses rubber.
-Align a vehicle built before 1990.
-Crimp an A/C hose.
-Set up a ring and pinion.

It is concerning that everyone who knows how to work on these vehicles are now retiring.

Re: What did you do to your truck today. The 3rd chapter

It’s been crazy hot out so not much progress on my 67 but I did have a box on my front porch that brings me joy. Soon my old truck will have nice cold a/c! Don’t mind the little bunny in the background that eats all my flowers.

More new battery cables.
And side post studs instead of the goofy battery bolts
Finally starts without a major voltage loss.

Congrats, now you can clean up the middle section of your frame

Thanks! I looked at all the tips from the members over the years and that helped greatly! It would have been trial and error if not for the members here on the board with their knowledge.
Thanks Russ

Finally got around to installing my radiator overflow tank. Wife says it looks like a diamond in a goat's ass. She can be a funny woman at times.

Re: What did you do to your truck today. The 3rd chapter

Took a round trip to Natchitoches Louisiana yesterday in my ‘67 GMC…about 300 miles total…truck oil and water level didn’t drop a measureable amount…life is good! At least until the micro-casting flaw in the crankshaft, rod, piston, or whatever that wasn’t measurable in 1967 finally and catastrophically makes its presence known….
