Re: What did you do to your truck today?
Rolled on the second coat of primer yesterday (in-process Faux-tina). The extra thickness and texture is needed so that, after application of color, the primer will show through the paint after wet sanding. At least that's what I am told .Looking good Mark. All that attention to detail is destined to result in an engine bay that is as cool as the rest of your truck! You know guys, by posting this as I do each step, if this turns out bad, I got no place to hide . I am also posting these steps on my build thread if anybody wants to see a more contiguous listing of the steps. Last edited by lakeroadster; 06-22-2011 at 06:08 PM. |

Picked up a new antenna to replace the busted out original one, just a cheap aftermarket antenna but it should work just fine. I also got a new saddle cloth style seat cover, the old one is just crumbling underneath me. Last edited by fryer1979; 06-23-2011 at 01:45 AM. |

Re: What did you do to your truck today?
Cast exhaust headers look great on a six. Tube headers just seem to ad confusion to anotherwise clean engine design. I saw numerous cars last week at a show that were running Fenton's. Combined with an aftermarket cast intake everything just looks "right".

Re: What did you do to your truck today?
Cleaned entire truck in and out top to bottom and tucked it in the garage, we have bad storms coming.

nice stance, and I love the knockoff 'vette rallys - I had those on my Elco and would have them on the truck, but found a cheap set of Cragars I couldn't resist |

Re: What did you do to your truck today?
I finally got the bed back where it belongs, not all the strips are bolted down yet - I decided to hide the main cross sill bolts to frame because I couldn't bear to cut holes in the wood I spent so much time finishing…
this makes the entire back half of the truck done except for little details, the cab is next! |

Re: What did you do to your truck today?
Rebuilt the Rochester 2bbl, replaced manifold gaskets. Had to drill out two carb studs. Results? Runs good.

Re: What did you do to your truck today?
Thanks steverino66 It's hard to go wrong with vette rallys! I've had them on almost all my classic chevy's. I have 4 different center combo's, so if I get tired of the spinners I can change the whole look with different center caps.

Surprisingly driving it in the rain or snow doesn’t really make all that big a mess. It just splatters the firewall in alignment with the tires and the rest hits what’s left of the inner fender above the tire. A trip to the coin-op car wash cleans it right up. Besides the truck and I are both retired now so it’s primarily used just for fun. |

Re: What did you do to your truck today?
Put on the "Custom" sail panel trim pieces from my other truck. I know, they aren't original to this truck, but I really dig the way they look. Plus I had them so might as well use them, right?
