One thing I will add, I've done many partial restorations and repaints. This was my first true frame off restoration. By the time I finished, I was pretty burnt out on doing anything on it. It's hard to explain but I really didn't want to touch it. That's why I've never fixed little things that bother me. Call it lazy, unmotivated or whatever. I now have a nice shop to do the list.
I see. I thought maybe you liked it in that orientation because the horn button was correct I get the same way sometimes. In fact, my wheel was off for several months after an alignment. It literally took me 5 minutes to fix once I got around to it, but at the time I was at a point in my project where I just didn't feel like turning any wrenches.

The new shop addition is awesome! I dig the steel construction too. Hey, I saw my car is still setting in the dirt too.

Great that you have a big addition to your shop. Like the trip that you took in your truck and that it is still doing great.

Thanks Ryan. I use steel because I can actually build steel construction.
That car won't be out there much longer....

Thank Jason! I have waited many years to own this shop. I'm pretty proud of the fact I paid for it all up front so no debt on it I'm almost ready to move on to a new project....

I just came in from my ( barely qualifies as) two car garage and I gotta say I'm jealous of that shop. Going to be a thread on the Camaro?

Re: 1969 Short Wide

I seem to be following your path. I switched from 67-72 motor mounts to 73-87 mounts to get the headers I just bought to fit and to clear the steering shaft from the rack and pinion swap. Now I have to install the high hump just like you because the engine angle changed. Why did you go with the 73-87 mounts?

I chose the 73-87 style mounts because I've had the 72 back style fail on me before. It was on a big block though. Not sure the small block would torque that much or not?
I feel like the 73 up design is superior because even if it fails, the bolt will keep the engine from raising up.
It can be messy when one of the old style mounts fail.

Re: 1969 Short Wide

Are you still happy with all the several gallons of Raptor you've applied? Wondering how it's held up and if you recommend it. Someone may have asked before but I've gotten lost in these 100 plus pages of chevy goodness.

Sorry for delayed reply. Overall, I'm pretty happy with the Raptor liner. However, I feel like the mix wasn't quite right on the bed. It was dyed red with the pigment from the same paint I used. I followed the instructions but it seems like it never quite got as hard as the black I used under the cab. I ran down to Texas a few times with a spare in the back and it left a black ring, almost as though the weight dug into the coating. It still looks good and isn't faded but I keep it in the garage. I would use it again on my next project.

Re: 1969 Short Wide

Did you get the optional hardener for the raptor liner and mix it in when you shot it?

It was two parts. You mix the small bottle into the big bottle. I just wonder if the pigment screws up the mix? I followed the instructions from the raptor guys. I seem to remember calling them to confirm I was getting the right stuff before I mixed it.

It's not like it's not set up, more like it's too soft so it almost has memory.

Re: 1969 Short Wide

That is weird. I've only used the stuff on 2 different trucks. I used the optional extra hardener both times because the sales rep I spoke with said it couldn't hurt. It could be the paint that changed it too. I was just curious is all.
