Re: What did you do to your truck today? Chapter II
Took apart and cleaned up some of my A/C system. Long ago, I duct taped the ends of each line and stored them away. That was a mistake..... If you want to keep your lines clean during storage, 1/2" and 3/4" drip hose works perfect, and I happened to have both. You can cap/cover the hose........No corrosion or mess. I bolted a piece of laminate and "plate" to the back of the compressor so the holes remain clean. I need some plugs of some kind to restore it. Despite my younger self, I found the label on the compressor is near mint.
This is after I just removed them from the box. Pretty sure it's complete. I haven't seen these since 1993. Looking forward to getting these right. I've read where the dehydrator can be restored, and if anyone does this, I'm all ears. The condenser is pretty bent up and wasn't stored quite right anyway, so I'll need a new one. Generally prefer OEM, but seems an OER is the best option.

seriously though, I've got a full compliment of data on the "gauges" screen on the Atomic hand held controller so I can keep an eye on things. I tried the Nu Vintage V.1 perimeter lighting gauge cluster and it was horrible. VERY poor lighting ( bulbs) and the curved lens covers had a glare 365/24/7...so I sent it back to Summit. Called Ben @ Nu Vintage and had him make me a custom set-up with V.2 LED backlit gauges & flat lens covers, didn't even charge me for the upgrades. I'll post pics once its in. |

I think I finally got the last of the leaks fixed. Installed a felpro 1 piece oil pan gasket. So far clean floor under engine bay now.

Re: What did you do to your truck today? Chapter II
Hi all...newbie here. first post or reply, not really sure what I'm doing yet.LOL
We have a 69 GMC 910 that we are working on (my 2 boys and I) long bed. Just have the box off along with shocks and springs and are coating the frame etc with POR 15 and lowering it 3"in the rear and 1" in the front. I want to install a rear sway bar and eventually a front. Still have drums all around and will get to that another time when we have the money. Question is what do I need to do this properly and what is the best way. I want to start with the rear first. I have a 400 SBC with a gear vendor overdive with a one piece drive shaft already installed I understand that I can use a rear sway bar assembly from a 95 -96 Camaro any help with this would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance |
