Cant always hog it on there haha..... We're gonna make a painter out of you yet.. At least your shop is not making you body guys prime the stuff you fix like they are down here.

Crazy weekend, not much time in the shop. I did manage to start my other vent window frame. The second one is always easier. The first time I installed the rigid strip first. That for me was a no-no. The wrap around goes in first as seen below.

Parts laid out on a padded work bench.



With some lube for it to squeeze into the channel I installed the wrap around piece first.



The rigid piece needs to be bowed a little to get it in the corner pockets.



The wrap around didn't fit as well as the first one. It seemed a little short on both ends.





I pulled it back out of the track some to fix the end gaps by shifting it. I trimmed about 1/8" off because it binding on the pivot bracket. It really didn't help much it was just too short.



With everything in and lined up it's ready for the rivets.



I will be posting this in the FAQ Wing/Vent window rebuild.

Looks good! I like the padded workbench. Even with a detailed thread showing how to do the job, I managed to find a way to mess mine up. I installed the "D" shaped washer that goes in along with the fiber washer on the pivot assembly backwards, and it wouldn't let the window open up. I had to drill out the pivot rivet, take the assembly apart, and turn the washer around. It wasn't a big deal, but I only had two pivot rivets. I'm still waiting for my new one to arrive.

Anyway, like I said before, the FAQ writeup was a big help.

Thanks, remember you saying that. I just finished editing the FAQ stating to make sure people pay attention to the orientation of the pivot stop. Thanks for the heads up. I'm going back to the FAQ to edit some more.

Does anybody have a pic of the ebrake setup with all levers and springs and guides that pull the intermediate cable to the sides. A factory diagram would be great. I did some digging for my old parts. The pics below is what I have found so far. I'm not even sure the spring and long rod are part of the setup. I have to adapt the crossmember brackets over to the CPP trans mount. Undecided on how I really want to do it. I'm waiting on some parts to show up so I can start piecing it all together.

Hey Alan,

Here is a pic of mine I took so I could remember how it went.

The big spring goes from the very bottom hole in the pic to the rear cross member with a little hook rod that acts as an extension.

Thanks TR, that's funny I was doing a search and found that pic earlier and downloaded it. I couldn't remember who's pic it was. I was going to up load it for comparison, but didn't. Because I forgot. I don't have the link on the upper left of your assy. Maybe it didn't have it. I did find some more things to go along with it. Just have to wait on parts to arrive. I tried searching for factory service manuals. Guess I was doing something wrong.

Spent the night looking for parts, sand blasting some small stuff and finished up the pass vent window. All it needs now is a glass.

Oh man I can't waitBut where did all thoughs extra parts for the e-brake come fromI would like to help but all my trucks are BIG and the e-brakes are on the drive lines.

You know how extra parts accumilate. Horse trading and I did part one out.

Never heard of anyone do it. Not even familiar with the earlier setup.

Goodies arrived today. I bought a complete firewall grommet kit. I will only be using the speedo and ebrake grommet for now (2 on the left). Not even sure which grommet is for the speedo cable. I think it is the one with the angled hole thru the center.

I probably could have gone to the local parts house for the battery cables, but it is easier to just click it and have it mailed.

I got the vent window installed temporarily. Also installed the front ebrake cable, speedo cable, left door regulator.

When I was shopping for new e-brake cables, I noticed in the catalogs that the 66 trucks use a different setup than the 60-65's. They came up with a new system for '66 that eliminated the complicated bracket/linkage setup and replaced it with a setup that only uses cables and a couple of rods. It is easy to work around when you swap out your stock transmission for an automatic, and it looks like some guys have replaced the earlier crossmember style brake setup with one from a '66. I'm out of town tonight, so I don't have any pics of mine, but I tracked down this page on Woogeroo's site.

Here is a diagram from the 1966 shop manual that shows how it works.

I hope this helps. It seems like guys spend a lot of time getting their e-brakes to work right when it might be easier to swap out to the '66 style.

Thanks for the pic. I remember that style now. I'm still looking for a pic like that for my style ebrake. I don't have a FSM.

I should have preplanned for that.

Filled in the spot welds on one side of the TG and header. I used the tape to keep from making a mess. If filler gets in a crack it is a PITA to sand out. It makes for easy cleanup.

Thanks guys!! The attention to details are killing me. I'm to the point I want it done. So I have been over looking somethings in the body work. Most people will never ever see or notice. Trying to let go of my OCD.

Primed bed and other parts. Slicking out the inside of the TG wasn't easy. They make a great TG, but to slick it out took a little more wiping than just spot welds. Don't get me wrong I love the TG, but to get it to the next level took a little work. It's not perfect now, I'm letting it slide.

Being a member of this board does two things , One , you get to see just how good other guys on the forum are .. And second it forces me to try new things , in hopes of someday doing work that is better (not ever equal to yours Alan ) .. Tonight I replaced the trans tunnel and shifter in my 63.. The one that was in it was hacked bad , and the one that was replacing it needed a corner replaced .. the hacked one had a good corner ,so I thought I would try to do it right instead of overlapping them like I do most of the time ... after fitting the pieces and welding it all together I thought to myself "Alan must be rubbing off on me" .. Then I reviewed some of your work and came back to real life.....
