Got a few things done.
New set of Dayco Top Cog belts, new vacuum and fuel lines. And painted wheels last week , then mounted four new Cooper HT tires.

Re: What did you do to your truck today!
Drove her for the first time in a couple of years. OK it was only a few yards around my back yard so I could get her into the right place to finally fit my camper shell (forgot to take any pictures as I had so much to do) Shell fits really nice which is a relief as it was an ebay buy. I just need to finish sorting out the top tailgate for it and refit it. I'm going to post up a seperate post though as I encountered a problem when driving her.

Re: What did you do to your truck today!
My son, twin 17 year old grandsons and I worked on my '67 swb stepper and one of my grandson's lwb '71.
On my '67 swb stepper we mounted the master cylinder, hooked up the brake lines and bleed the system. Now my truck has disc brakes. We tried to put on a power booster but had the wrong bracket. Installed a front sway bar. Cut one coil off front springs. Replaced a bad outer tie-rod. Put new shocks on the front. On my grandson's '71 lwb the frame and front suspenion was cleaned and painted. I missed working on my truck last Sunday because I had minor surgery the day before.

Re: What did you do to your truck today!
Cut out the rusted front cab support and floor pan. Watching ebfabman's cab repair DVD's again tonight to pickup on a few other tips/tricks. I seem to get more from them after I have been out there working in specific areas.
Thanks,

Had the beast detailed inside and out. Got the engine bay cleaned up as well, then cruised it around in the beautiful weather with the top off baby!

Re: What did you do to your truck today!
I rattled canned my door jambs... I did a quickie primer/sealer job about a year ago to get it all the same color and to fix some minor bodywork. Its far from perfect but at least it is presentable. I'm really thinking about dropping the truck off to get a simple single stage paint job. The cheap places can do it for what I'd pay in materials and they'll get way better results.
I've had them paint cars before, and they don't take ANYTHING off the car, just mask it. Way better results if I strip it down real good first. Then probably have the sign shop put on some vinyl stripes or do a half wrap. Posted via Mobile Device

Re: What did you do to your truck today!
swept the floor under and around it so the garage will be presentable when my electrician friend comes friday to set me up with 220v. finally have a welder and air compressor so the fun can begin in earnest.
i was going to run the conduit and conductor myself but he sugggested that he could do it if i would put subframe connectors in his Demon in trade. sounds good to me. ryan |

Re: What did you do to your truck today!
The build of my '67 swb stepper has kind of hit a snag so progress will be slow. My son, the mechanic, is now out of a job so he has to spend his time working on a couple of projects so he can sell them. I have decided to help him and delay the '67 build some. I will be able to work mine some now and then.
Saturday we are going to move my '67 from his shop to my garage.

Re: What did you do to your truck today!
Checked all the tire pressures and found the fronts low so I added 5lbs to them.

Re: What did you do to your truck today!
Today we put the new poly cab bushings on my '67 swb stepper. It was quite a chore because the new ones did not come with the right washers for the top. We managed to salvage the old ones and reuse them.
We loaded it up on my son's trailer and brought it out here to the farm and put it in my garage. I will have to move things around a little to be able to work on it, but I think it can be done. We got one of my grandson's '73 SS Malibu started and he drove it around the yard a little. Not long ago he got a good deal on it, he paid $600 for it. It does not have a lot of rust, just the rear quarter panels. Then we cleaned and painted the firewall on the '71 swb my son is fixing up to sell some day. He sold his '72 Chevelle yesterday. Then we finished the day by sitting in the garage and shooting the breeze about what to do tomorrow. All in all a great day working with my son and one of my twin 17 year old grandsons.

I cleaned up the back yard, loaded the junk into the 72 and drove it to the dump with my son-in-law. Had to feed him, took him to McDonalds
