Re: jimbosprint 1972 C20 - the good, the bad, and the ugly
I made this simple cup holder today from a painted piece of plywood and a $9 cup holder I found at the parts store. It seems like it will work just sitting there, but I might add some rubber feet if it moves.

Jimbo, did you already install your glovebox? if not could you give me some measurements off of it? mine fell out and got crushed by a passenger, now I want to make one out of sheet metal, just need the dimensions.

Re: jimbosprint 1972 C20 - the good, the bad, and the ugly
Sorry, I already put it in. You have to practically fold it in half to get it in through the glove box opening, so I don't know how sheet metal would work. Maybe with no AC it would be possible to install from below?

Re: jimbosprint 1972 C20 - the good, the bad, and the ugly
I have been looking at that and I think I am going to do a 2 piece (top and bottom) that overlap eachother, and then on the outer piece of the overlap, tack a nut or use a well nut, and put a few round head screws from the inside to hold them together, then finish it off with some felt or something so it isn't bare metal.

I just got mine from GMC Pauls sitting in the garage. I can get some dimensions for you when I get home.

Re: jimbosprint 1972 C20 - the good, the bad, and the ugly
I just ordered 4 new shocks from Amazon for $102.
Amazon.com: KYB KIT 4 FRONT & REAR shocks /... I also found this $40 mail-in rebate from KYB (http://www.kyb.com/40-for-4/), so my total cost for all new shocks will be $62! Last edited by jimbosprint; 04-27-2015 at 08:23 PM. |

I installed some tie-down hooks in the bed of the truck today. No drilling required.

Used my truck for some real work today. Hauled a yard of concrete for a foundation for a shed I'm building.

Re: jimbosprint 1972 C20 - the good, the bad, and the ugly
Haha, I do need a garage. A little 8'x10' shed is the best I can do for now. At least I'll be able to get the truck parts out of my living room.

That's a truck doing what it meant to do. Nice.

I had some time today to install the new shocks. Looks like the old ones weren't doing much good.

New shocks ride smooth.
Oh, and here is the shed I built. It sure is nice to have a truck to do things with. |
