Re: '69 GMC Build Thread.

well, spent another frigid day out in the garage.

got the inners finished enough for my liking. they're not going anywhere.

also got the bottom of the fenders drawn in and bolted on. so they're flush with the rest of cab.

umm..what else. got the cowl about ready to go on, after a bit of a hitch with the antenna. you know, the whole "too big, too small of a drill bit" story. but, got that taken care of.

then when Dad got home from work, we spun the tires to get the self adjusters...adjusted. lol.

and...thats about it.

here's a pic to show that the driver side is straight, once again.

tomorrow, i hope to get the cowl on, and the hood on. unfortunately, i won't be putting the hood emblems on right away, since the proper holes aren't drilled yet. but, thats not a big deal.

so thats where she stands now...

let's hear it!

-Sam.

Re: '69 GMC Build Thread.

Bob-

ok..ok..so it's like..a front side quarter..view..thing.... i'll be sure to take pics when i roll it out this weekend.

Bill -

Those tires will be turning soon my friend! i go to the DMV tomorrow...and cross my fingers, there won't be a long line, and i get a nice lady. .

it's not all together yet..but the stuff to do is minor. so, it's time!

Mom and Dad were like, "well, you did it once, then you did it again, it's about time you drive it. it always ran good, so, it should get you to school."

it's always good to have your parents backing with projects like these. well, like mine anyway. their support, along with all of your guys's, and indispensible knowledge, made this possible...again. haha.

Re: '69 GMC Build Thread.

guess what guys....

nah hah! i got 'em! !

now, just to finish bolting the hood and bumper on...and it should be ready to take for a cruise! right to the gas station. .

so, thats really about it for today. it's the start of a cold snap, about a high of 10 today, so all i did was finish bolting the cowl on, and hook the choke up to the carb.

otherwise, my hands were burning from being cold without gloves on. lol.

and thats about it.

tomorrow...since its going to be even colder...i hope to get as much little stuff done as possible, and as fast as possible.

everything is going smoothly, aside from one small issue. i think my rad is leaking a little bit in one of the cores, where we repaired it. which...just isn't good. but i'll post seperate about that.

alright, thats about it guys. i don't have school til tuesday now, so sunday and monday are my days to take 'er for some test runs down the highway. we'll see what happens.

Re: '69 GMC Build Thread.

thanks Bob!

unfrotunately though, at the moment, i have no progress update..or anything like that.

i would just like to state...it is effin' cold out!

yup. it's warmed up to about 18 below. they're calling for a high of -1. boy, did i pick a weekend to throw it all together or what!

but thats about it. it's not real bad out, honestly. i just need tog et my rear in gear, throw on the carhartts, and get out there.

...we'll see if that happens. .

Re: '69 GMC Build Thread.

haha, yeah...she was a cold one today wasn't she? Mother Nature has a twisted sense of humor.

but!

that didn't stop me entirely. Dad and I managed to get the bumper bolted on, which was a chore in itself, sine the frame horns were a bit twisted from the straightening. however, it's taken care of.

also got the hood on, just need to adjust and align it, which is minor.

so. that about takes care of everything...

tomorrow, we need to fix the door glass, which i hope shouldn't be a big deal.

after that, the bad needs to be shifted back over. it's a bit uneven, but it should be nothing. just a heave-ho.

and...thats it to my knowledge. put the headlights i picked up yesterday in. and take 'er for a spin. with plates!

yup. we're gonna make a maiden voyage to the gas station tomorrow, which is about 6-7 miles down the highway. it should be a nice run for the old girl, along with the fact she could use some petrol.

so. thats where she stands.

sorry, no pics. i'll be sure to take some tomorrow tho.

Re: '69 GMC Build Thread.

well.

today was a bit warmer than yesterday, despite starting out at 30 below this morning when i woke up.

truck wise though...little was accomplished.

we got the hood bolted up. only to find the rad support/front clip is off a bit. greaaatttt...

but. thats ok. i think it can be shifted over with the help of a come along tomorrow. so, thats really the only hold up. everything else is fairly minor.

so. thats the update. tomorrow should also be above zero. which helos A LOT. haha.

i'll keep you all updated.

Re: '69 GMC Build Thread.

haha.

very quickly Mike, and with choppers on yer hands. thats how.

Thanks for the kind words.

it's really kind of just being a cracker jack job for now...i've decided that when it warms up, i'm swapping to a different frame. i have a a 1/2 ton, 3/4 ton, and 3/4 ton 4wd. to choose from, so it should be ok. as long as it's straight, i'm ok.

but yeah. tomorrow is the last day guys...i have to get that hood lined up, the bed adjusted...which are both minor, in my opinion. then the window...which, if i can get the door panel off easily enough, shouldn't be too bad. i'd hate to drive it with the window not all the way rolled up...but...i'll do it, if i have to. .

i'll keep you all posted. cross your fingers!

Re: '69 GMC Build Thread.

haha, i tried Bob! it warmed up a little, above zero atleast, so every bit helped.

but.

it wasn't pretty. it wasn't right. but, it'll work for now.

yup. there she is...again. lol. better a beater on the road than a pile of parts in the garage, eh?

i know. she looks worse than before. but bless the ol' girls heart..or engine..whatever...i love 'er anyway. .

so, thats it all.

i'm gonna put some gas in 'er right now, because she's pretty low, and head to the gas station. i'll take the camera, of course. it's the maiden voyage.

tomorrow...my dad will drive it to work. because...i have an early class, and i want to make sure i'm there on time, so i'll just take my normal DD. but, thats ok. she's back. she's in one piece. she doesn't look too bad. she's on the road. and she's mine.

let's hear it!
