me too, I'm just removing the "laced" areas where rust lived. since theres no rust I'm left with "laced" metal. i have most of the panels even cut up a burb or two for the parts. just cutting spot welds to clean up the panels for grafting, should be fun!!! pics to follow...

first area of work. i had the bone yard cut the quarter and going through my parts that i havent open even when they came in the mail, i found i have rear wheel arches panels for this same side so score!!!

you need to hammer & dolly the weld as you go ! got to the -metalmeet .com or allmetalshaping sites -lots of help available there -you do have to dig in the archives a bit ?? good luck !! mike

thanks for the info. i'll check it out tonight!!! oh i forgot its on the rear quarters of the burb that im working on, they have the inner panel so no dolly action.

craftsman 120v set to min. temp and 3ish wire speed. I think im running non flux core wire, but I will check. no shielding gas... plus whats cool, when i flip to max temp and same wire speed i can weld 1/4" plate with same results!!!

If your gas less it will be flux core wire.

Thanks Pimpston65. I'm using gas on Lincoln 135, setting B(from A,B,C,D) and number 3 (out of 10). Next time out I'll take it down to 2 and see. Thanks.
