I picked them up on eBay. Once set of green, blue, red, and amber. I had to buy one additional green. I like them, not too bright. Check out eBay seller kjandcompany. I've found a bunch of small stuff like this on eBay.

I got my exhaust finished up. I'm running a Flowmaster 40 Series Delta Flow muffler. I'm not sure how I ended up choosing that muffler way back when I bough it...I think I heard it on another guys truck at a parts store but I really didn't research it much before buying it. Before I had the exhaust dumping just before the axle and it was loud as hell from inside the cab. With the exhaust out back under the bumper it's a bit quieter but I may end up with a different muffler. I've been told it doesn't sound obnoxious going down the road, it just seems to drone in the cab a bit more than I think I would like on longer drives.

Looks good. I have sound mat on the whole floor and firewall and it is still more noisy than expected. Mine dumps out just before the axle. I may route them to the back like you did if it helps.

Definitely a big difference going all the way out the back, still loud though. As of now I have no insulation. Future plans is all new weather stripping and a fully insulated cab with carpet.

I outlined how I go about exhaust building in post 31 of this thread. Honestly, taking it to an exhaust shop probably wouldn't cost much more.

I like flowmasters but they do tend to drone, I am told its worse the further the muffler is mounted from the collector. on the last couple trucks I had a flowmaster installed I asked for and installed a dodge cummins diesel mid silencer under the cab, it doesnt mute the sound except at idle and the drone was gone. I know you are running duals, so you would need two of them, but hey I had the exact same problem and thats what I did.

^^^Interesting...I'll have to keep that in mind. I have a y-pipe with a straight run of single three in. pipe before the muffler...maybe I could fit one there.

My experience, back in my mini truck days, was to run a long 3 chamber muffler to quiet the drone in the cab. I believe the 40 series is a 2 chamber and coupled with large diameter pipe, drone is gonna be awful. I have a 84 cutlass with an ls swap running dual 3 inch pipe and two 40 series flowmasters with it exiting behind the rear wheels, and the drone in it is terrible at about 40 mph. But it sounds damn good though.

nice exhaust work. I have true duals flomaster 50's on my truck and I have no drone at all. Has a good idle but I would like a little louder sometimes. I run 2.25 pipe. last truck I had 2.5" pipe and knockoff stainless flomasters. No drone either. Both cabs were insulated.

^^^^^I was thinking about going to a 50 Series Delta Flow. The 40 is a two chamber muffler whereas the 50 is a three chamber which I think would be like taking my 40 and adding the mid-silencer joedoh pictured above.

So I haven't done much on the truck lately but I did signed up for the 2017 Hot Rod Power tour. This year the route of the tour is somewhat advantageous for those out of or traveling through Kansas City. Kansas City is the first stop, then it heads north and through Iowa, down through Illinois, and the fifth stop is St. Louis, which will be my last stop since it will make for an easy drive home, about four hours. FYI the two remaining stops are Indianapolis, IN and Bowling Green, KY.

I'm hoping to get someone or someones to care for the kids so my wife can come with we. Since we enjoy camping we're going to be camping each night, I already have all my camping reservations made too.

A few to do items high on the list will be seat belts, heater, front end alignment, radio speakers, bed wood, wiper motor, and cruise control. Of course I have a much longer list of of other little things I'd like to eventually get done but for the most part I think I'm almost there.

I'm envious as that's my old stomping grounds from growing up/college (Eastern IA/ISU)... On the Davenport down to Madison IL/St. Louis leg...I hope you like corn

very cool, wish I could do something like that someday. beware on the alignment. most shops don't have the equipment to align these trucks bc of the fenders get in the way. I found one shop around me and it was 45min away.

I was wondering about that. Do you recall what was unique about the alignment shop you used?

I was going to take it to a shop I used to work at, trusting that they would do it right. Concern is if the alignment heads will be able to be mounted to the wheels without fender interference. My tires are just slightly tucked. I did lift up the back end with some smaller drop blocks. As of now, the lip of the wheel isn't tucked so I'm hoping it will work out.

My other alternative is to set up my truck nice and level and do it myself with a purchased alignment gauge. It won't be as accurate as a modern alignment machine, but I think if one took their time getting everything set up it should come out pretty good.

this is the setup they had. if your not running whites I would just do it yourself and see how it goes. I tear up my tires caused of bad alignment esp with bias tires. On my 49' I didn't have it aligned, but it drove alot better and had no signs of wear on the bias tires. with my 51' something else is going on, I'm actually tearing the truck apart this year, bagging it and hoping to get it to not ruin my tires. this place has been around forever, they say they do alot of hotrods, straight axles etc.

The wheels are American Racing Torq Thrust 2 18x8. The previous owner had them on an 88 Monte Carlo SS. The tires are 245/40-18 Brigestone Potenza.

The tires are a little thinner profile that what I would like but the wheels and tires were close to new and I paid $750 for the set with lug nuts so…I can live with it.

I’m looking forward to getting the bed finished, sitting it on the ground, and rolling it outside to see how it looks.

Sorry to Hi-Jack this build thread, But can you educate me on the front fenders for these trucks?
Are the 1 ton wheel openings larger than 1/2 tons? If so by how much?
I have been searching for a good project but I had ruled out 1 tons because I thought hoods and front fenders were different.

1.5 tons and up are bigger fenders and slightly diff hoods 3800's are 1 ton, 3600 3/4 and 3100 halton. check out lowers50s bagged GMC, he used the bigger fenders on his. I don't know the exact size difference.

when i had the 65 aligned i pulled the front fenders and the bed and drove it to the shop like that.

99 is right, 1 ton 3/4 and 1/2 are all the "small" front clip (they do have some core support mounting differences between them), everything else from 1.5 and up is the "large" fenders and hood. cabs are (mostly) the same, can have some floor differences, so you can get a 1.5 ton cab and install the smaller front clip.
