Honestly, the mustang seats suck. for now, we have a recovered (mexican blanket) stock bench. But, it sucks too. We are going to a 60/40 split bench from a 88-98 chev p/u. Autocrossing in Del-Mar was fun, but sliding around on the seat, and slamming into the door isn't the fast way around. lol

last night we went back out to Adams Motorsports park and ran some Time-Attack laps with the J.T. It was warm, and the track had some good rubber on it, so it was a good night. We haven't made any real big changes lately. 1. We gave it a good alignment before Del-Mar. 3/4* neg. camber, 7* pos. caster, and 1/8" toe out. It drives great, feels very stable at speed, and turns in very well with this set up. 2. We installed two toggle switches in the glove box. One interupts the VSS signal to the ECU, with the switch off, the ECU see's no speed signal, and doesnt try to shift the trans for us. The second switch is a seporate power input to lock up the torque converter. So, we can keep it in second gear, and the converter stays locked, so that the truck pulls off the corner better. The result, Mike Sullivan, a tech here, put down a 51.27 fast lap (previous fast lap for the truck was 53.53) Next project is to swap to air ride in the rear.

Good info on the VSS Rob. Would you happen to know the pin number of these 2 wires so we can all try it? Also, I got the new panhard bracket installed and it fits great. Any idea when the sway bar kit will be ready? That's the last thing I need to finish my suspension, .

Yeah, thats huge. I think the rear difference is in Mike getting used to driving it. The seat is really proving to be a P.O.S. looking for a 88-98 split 60/40 seat.

Couple of questions if ya don't mind...

1) Toe-in vs. toe-out. How does that affect entering and/or exiting a corner? Which is better? In what situations? When should you align for toe-in? When should you align for toe-out?

2) You installed toggle switches to control the 4L80e the way you want. Awesome! With the VSS signal disabled, do you shift the tranny just like if it had a manual valve body? Stock column shift or floor shifter? If so, this would give you the best of both worlds. Leave it on for cruising. Turn it off for spirited driving.

TOE - to start with, if you set the front wheels parallel, 0 toe, it will wander around the highway, and follow every groove and lane cut. No good. So, a slight amount of 'conflict' between the front wheels will keep them going straight ahead. Most cars/trucks alignment spec is toe'd 'in'. Remember that most people aren't very good drivers, and don't really pay attention. Toe in makes the car/truck a bit lazy, but easy to drive. Toe out makes them much more responsive, but can be twitchy. If you enjoy driving, try a little bit of toe out, maybe 1/8".
With the vss off, it will stay in the gear you set it in. I have a floor shift, but I don't shift at all on a short track. It is worth the 3 bucks for the swith.

Thanks for the schooling on "toe." As for VSS off, I've heard of people having problems with trannies going into limp mode due to no VSS. Not true in your case tho? I'm guessing it's the way you wired it?

Looks good, - the panhard should be level at ride hieght. I don't know if your truck is lifted in the picts or not, but take a look at putting the bar mount on top of the mount plate. That may make it closer to level. Sway bars due in 2 wks.

I replaced the 4" dropped springs with 6" dropped springs and that took care of the problem......

Better than before. Looks better too I would still look at flipping the mount to the topside. You want it parallel with the ground (or the axle tubes) at ride height, assuming you have room with the cast diff cover...

Was finally able to read this whole thread. I had foot surgery this morning and was able to spend some time on here. I have seen the magazine articles and was hoping for the details in the frame mods.

Any pictures/layouts of the changes as mentioned earlier? Is JT going to be at the GG show in Dallas this fall?

Looking good. Do you have any finished shots of the exhaust routing from front to back. I like the looks of them exiting RIGHT behind the rears like that. By the way, congrats on the article in Classic Trucks (I think). Although you guys are no strangers to the shiny pages.
