Re: ** YOUNG FRANKENSTEIN** The truck Chevrolet should have built.
Some people would say: Relocating the axle, that's crazy!
I'll say: It doesn't matter when you are rebuilding the whole suspension and doing rear airbags!!!! A pic of the 4 link from Air Ride Technologies that I got for half price from someone here on the board. Yes there is more to it than just this.

Re: ** YOUNG FRANKENSTEIN** The truck Chevrolet should have built.
Hey nice progress! You are making this thing look like a truck now for sure.
BTW, $1600 is a very reasonable price. Keep the pics coming! |

Re: ** YOUNG FRANKENSTEIN** The truck Chevrolet should have built.
I am liking the progress you are making. Someday I need to build one of these for my self or maybe I will just get my current project (LowBuk) back on the road and call it done

Re: ** YOUNG FRANKENSTEIN** The truck Chevrolet should have built.
Hey can you do me a favor and post a few pics of the different engine covers you have on the 4 trucks? I am trying to find one for LowBuck and I am not sure what is out their. My motor is an 05 5.3L vortec truck motor. Thanks for any help and yes $1600 complete is a good price, if you were closer I could have them sold for you.

The 6 liter has a kind of 3 piece engine cover. The 5.3 has just a small 1 piece. I took a pic of the 5.3 with the middle part of a 6.0 sitting next to it.

Re: ** YOUNG FRANKENSTEIN** The truck Chevrolet should have built.
Thanks I am trying to keep LowBuk as stock 05 looking as possible and as covered as possible. I wonder if that would work on an 05 5.3L? Well if it would fit and you end up with an extra one let me know.
Thanks again for the pics, keep up the good work. Kevin LFD Inc. |

Nice progress. Can I ask how you ended up with 4 denali's? They seem to be scarce around here at the auctions.

Re: ** YOUNG FRANKENSTEIN** The truck Chevrolet should have built.
Yes the 6.0 that covers the coil packs if it will fit on the 05 5.3L truck motor, mine came with out any mounting clips, studs or brackets so I would need the full set up. You can see what I have in my LFD Low Buck build.
Thanks Kevin LFD Inc. |

Are you going to make the truck all wheel drive?

Nah, not much use for that in Memphis. I'd rather save the gas.

Re: ** YOUNG FRANKENSTEIN** The truck Chevrolet should have built.
Hey, I like that airbox mount you fabbed up. Wanna swap? Make me another air box mount and I'll send you the engine covers. That way I can also claim that you lent a hand in building my truck!!!!! Could you sign it on the back too?????

PMed you. What ever happened to your weatherstripping deal to better seal truck doors? Remind me when you call.

Re: ** YOUNG FRANKENSTEIN** The truck Chevrolet should have built.
I also cut the spare tire winch free, removed the rearmost tubular cross brace that it mounts to, and reinstalled the cross brace 4 inches rearward. This keeps my spare from hitting the axle pumpkin when I move the axle back 4.5 inches.
Welding thick metal sure is a lot easier than sheet metal like I am used to these days.

Looks like some great progress! I know how long it takes to knock those mount off. The pile of parts tells the story for sure. That is a sweet looking tool storage station you have there too. Keep the pics coming!

Re: ** YOUNG FRANKENSTEIN** The truck Chevrolet should have built.
Thanks - The toolbox is a Cornwell that I scored on eBay 2 years ago. The poor guy bought it new 5 years ago and paid over 10 grand. I won his eBay auction for $1600. Needless to say I went the next day to pick it up!
