Re: What did you do to your truck today? Chapter II
Found some repro mirror heads for a 69 Holden. Took the crappy sports mirror off the arms and installed the new bits. Not super flash and eventually want to get the squarish mirrors on the longer 66 style arms. The original mirrors were useless inasmuch as I couldn't get enough angle on the right hand side and when your driving on the wrong side of the truck on the right side of the road (being the left) you wanna know who you're about to cut off!

Checked a few more items off the list. Picked up some goodies from being powder coated. Also got the ft and rear bumpers done !

I never liked the way the factory ran the lines between the master and the proportioning valve or from the valve down to the frame so I made new ones. Before and after:

Started my engine transplant this evening. Love it when trucks were simple, and it takes less than 2 hours to have the engine out!

Re: What did you do to your truck today? Chapter II
My machine shop has had my block and heads for over 5 weeks now... It's maddening! But it hasn't kept me from loading up on new parts, lol...
Today, I did a little scrubbing, sanding and priming of a few of them.. Might as well get the add-ons ready for when I get the engine back.. |

Re: What did you do to your truck today? Chapter II
Picked up a 20k mile rebuilt 283 bored .030 over with 4brl intake and carb for $300. Guy pulled it from his hotrod because of oil fouling the plugs. Figured with a little tweaking, I can drop this right into my C20 to replace my tired and cracked 283. I'm just a little excited.

I sold my daughters 71 SWB today . Now I can start putting money into her 72 SWB. I need to change my screen name and Avatar Pic too . The first thing to get done on the 72 is some sanding and a vinyl wrap and an ECE 4/6 drop.

Just thinking about this thread: Went and picked up the new metal roof for the back part of the house. About a thousand lbs. truck just shrugged, sat down on the aux spring and nothing to it. Damn I love this truck.

Re: What did you do to your truck today? Chapter II
Finally today I had my new tires mounted on my new rally wheels. The trim rings ordered for the front were the wrong size. I'll have the right ones next weekend, along with the shorter lug nuts so I can put on the derby caps. Still, though, I am really happy with the look!

I roughly installed the CPP Tubular A-Arms... Have some cutting and welding to do unless I can come up with a cross member that is more friendly to the large cross shafts...

Test fit the new right door and remove the rear glass. Then stopped for lunch. The rear glass made a good lunch table. Of coarse a couple of beers as well.
