Re: Started my first frame off - 72 SWB LS1, 6-spd manual

Such a sick build. Did you just sandblast the cab to prep it for paint? And how do you like the stainless bolt kit? Did it come with everything you thought it did or would you suggest getting another kit with it? Thanks for the advice buddy!

That's super cool you are that close to getting it painted. Did your painter give you a turn around time?
Thanks.. Yes, 4-6 weeks. There are a couple of more holes on the firewall I'm going to weld up and will get the truck over to him next week. It's hard to believe it been over 3 years since I began the build.

Thanks. If I had your talent with the metal work and did what you did on your build I would have kept the other front end. I decicided to go with Viper Red (This will be the closest I ever get to owning a Chrysler LOL).

Thanks. I soda blasted the cab. I was afraid too warp the sheet metal from sand blasting. You can pick up an inexpensive soda blaster from Harbor Freight. Be carful doing it in front of your house like I did.

I haven't used any of the stainless bolts yet. I have been using the old bolts for mock-up.

Awesome color choice, can't wait to see it painted. I plan on mine eventually being the same color but it may be satin black for a while until either I can afford to have it painted or gather the courage to try to paint it myself what color interior are you going with, I'm still trying to decide between red or black.

You can't go wrong with RED. Looking forward to color. Sounds like your painter is really fast too.

I decided to fill in a few more holes on the firewall and cut out the dash for factory A/C vents. This was very nerve racking!

Nice job on the dash vent holes, it's so nerve racking some people just replace the whole dash. It's a lot of work to do it that way.

Looks like your nerves held out fine. Good work on the vents.

Thanks! The template really made easier. Changing the dash doesn't look like fun either.

Thank you very much for giving me the template! It made it almost idiot proof. I was concerned when I first saw it because it was hand drawn.

Yes, Thanks.. The drivers side took me about 2.5 hours. Last night I cut the passenger side and center in about an hour. The nerves finally calmed down.

I'm not sure how I forgot to reply to you.. I went back and forth with Black but decided red. If you paint like you did your body work I wouldn't hesitate to paint it yourself. My first color choice for the interior is Tan and second is Black.

Thanks! I am pleased it came out nice.

I dropped off the cab and most of my sheet metal to my painters shop yesterday. I am hoping to get it back in 6-8 weeks.

I switched my paint choice to GM "Torch Red" after this Corvette instead of Chryslers " Viper Red".

Thanks. The color choice has been one of my hardest decisions of the build. I will try to show some pictures as soon I can. My painter is supposed to paint the cab first. I am so stoked!
