Re: Slosh Tubz new company project "Square Peg" frame laying 1987 GMC Jimmy
seen them use copperline here too but the more thickwalled waterline . central heating stuff with brass couplings , there a bit bulky though
if you make the lines so you can take them out after bending them to fit the blazer you could have them chromed or nickelplated or just powdercoated in the same colour as the car

I like that dash shown from a early sixties Chevy with the twin dash eyebrows, but I'm using one from a '66 C10 in my square. It will look good with the single long eyebrow going the length of the dash. Right now, I'm torn between having a glove box door or smoothing it all out. It will probably be after Christmas before I can get out to where my truck is to look for that passenger side door sill. |

Re: Slosh Tubz new company project "Square Peg" frame laying 1987 GMC Jimmy
Depends on what your going for... On cloud 9 you were shooting for a mostly stock looking vehicle... whats your goal with this truck? Mild or Wild?

Re: Slosh Tubz new company project "Square Peg" frame laying 1987 GMC Jimmy
Exactly. Depends on what you REALLY want/need out of this truck. Take a good hard look and then decide. Just want something fun and not overly complicated? Leave it stock-customized. Want something a little closer to over the top with no time/budget limits? Go all out custom.

mike - similar to the photo you posted; how about those six gauges in a straight line on a smooth, body-color painted dash with equally smooth center console, also painted body color?

Re: Slosh Tubz new company project "Square Peg" frame laying 1987 GMC Jimmy
Mike, my $.02, I've never been crazy about all the plastic on the square body trucks. Like the body style but not the dash. I love the early dashes myself. I've been looking at many different versions for my truck for quite a while. Just not overly crazy about the flat dash of the 67-72 trucks.
Here's a '59 Impala dash in a 67-72 and in a '59 Impala I kinda like the '64 Nova dash - I think it'd look right at home in a truck don't remember who's truck this is but it's an awesome ride - love the dash-not crazy about the console (too boxy) this is an aftermarket Camaro dash, kinda like it, not sure it'd look right in a tall truck cab and then I've thought about a "new looking" dash along the lines of many modern cars - this is in a GTO

Re: Slosh Tubz new company project "Square Peg" frame laying 1987 GMC Jimmy
I think a mid 60's GMC dash would look good. The Chevy dashes look good but the GMC only has one hump in it on the drivers side which I like better. I think it defines the gauge area and the smoothness on the passenger side gives it a finished look. The Chevy dashes with a hump on both sides leaves the passenger side looking like an after thought. I do not have pics but maybe someone can post a pic of a middle 60's GMC dash.

Not '63 Chevelle dash...... It's a NOVA and a '64 with that trim around the gages......

btw, it's fixed now. Funny, looking at it VERY closely now, I can kinda make out the badge on the right side of the dash............... "Nova SS". Didn't catch that before.

Re: Slosh Tubz new company project "Square Peg" frame laying 1987 GMC Jimmy
I'd say that changing the dash to anything else will be a custom touch that will separate the Peg from many other square bodies. Pick something you like, see what you can find and go from there. Might as well chop that OG one out this weekend and put some pics up!

Re: Slosh Tubz new company project "Square Peg" frame laying 1987 GMC Jimmy
I am going to put a 64-66 Chevy dash in my 85 or 73-75 project. I am going to pass my current 85 to my oldest son(12) when he is old enough to drive.
