Re: Rusbuilt's 68 C-10
Tie rod sleeves came today, I installed those and got the pinion angle set. Tomorrow I will tack weld my perches to the axle and disassemble everything and weld them solid and hopefully get it back together. Then finish up the rear breaks!!

Re: Rusbuilt's 68 C-10
Ok so i got the perches welded to the rear end and got it put back in, also installed my shock relocation kit and the shocks. All I have left now is installing the rear breaks shoes, wheel cylinders, brake hose, bend some hard lines and a new diff cover seal and some gear oil! Hopefully I'll have most of that done tomorrow.
Almost forgot!! I did a little cleaning on the breaks with some brake cleaner and I set a box under the hub to catch all the crap... Well then my super smart self went to grinding off the factory upper shock mounts and guess what!!! THE BOX COUGHT FIRE!! Yep, I felt like a dummy! lol

In the first pic it looks like I broke an exhaust mount on the left side or it came lose. I guess I'll have to fix that too.

Re: Rusbuilt's 68 C-10
I took the old rear end and set the perches up on blocks were they were flat and my angle finder indicated a 0 degree angle. then I put the angle finder on a flat part of the pumpkin portion of the rear end up where the drive shaft connects and it read 10 degrees. So then I knew that I need 10 degrees difference from the flat part of the perches to the that same spot up next to where the drive shaft connects. so I took the angle which oddly was 10 degrees at the perches and 0 on the pumpkin.. lol I tacked the perches took it all apart set it on the blocks like the other rear end double checked it and welded it up! Also before I took it apart I checked the angle on the drive shaft at the rear end and at the carrier bearing to make sure they were within one degree of each other.

The saddles came from CPP, it was their deluxe rear end conversion. Came with the saddles and the adjustable track bar. Thanks man I appreciate it. I can't believe how addicted to these trucks I have become in such a sort time!!
