Well, while waiting on another set of headers, long tube this time, I'm working on getting my radio functioning! I hope this works, but I put my remote brake fluid reservoir from Scotts on the kick panel. The tubes run behind the kick panel. If for some reason it doesn't flow, I'll redo the kick panel. Amazing how long it takes to get small things accomplished!

This is not my truck, but I found this pic while googling. I think I was looking at wheels/tires.

Wow I like that radio, and what you have done with your interior. Looks terrific. Is your dash two tone or is it just the light?

Re: My '59 Apache

Thank you ET! My 5 y/0 grandaughter is going to love the little DVD player! The color is a single color but does give the look of a two tone. I'm very pleased with the color I chose; it compliments the external color very well

Re: My '59 Apache

Thanks Kim! The radio is really neat!

Today I pulled the new headers back out. I called summit and ordered some Percy exhaust gaskets and exhaust wrap. I plan to wrap the passenger side header that's closest to the starter so hopefully the starter won't get cooked, or at least lessen the heat.
Oh, I spoke with Bill at hotrod wires .com. The problem I was having is when the engine was running, and I turn the engine off, it kept running for a couple seconds! He asked if I was running an electric fan,(yes), I ran the fan hot wiring it while I ran the engine. I need to get the fan relay in next time I start it. I don't know exactly the reason, but he figured it out right away! Learn something new everyday!!!

love your truck, just to let you know when you wrap headers you void the warrenty ( i dont have a spell check on here yet), what you could do is get a starter wrap blanket, i used one for years, they work great! just my .02 cents, keep up the great work.

Re: My '59 Apache

ANother reason your truck may be running on is there is too much timing so if the fan fix doesnt work try that. Love the DVD screen!

Re: My '59 Apache

Crossfire, I wasn't going to wrap the entire passenger side header, just the pipes which are closest to the starter. But I will look into a blanket for the starter itself.

Thanks Wheelie! I'll check the timing next time for sure. Thank you for the compliment; )

AC vent hoses and a link from Classic cars

Hi all or Ya'll! First off is a link to my site for Dave Chapman~ he's a cool guy and it gives me a chance to put my site to good use! I think I need a truck from Dave's shop to be the initial pic for his link?

http://www.classiccarsandtools.com/2...-road-company/

meanwhile, in the batgirl cave~
Worked on my AC/heat vent hoses today. I had been dreading this because of limited room underneath these small dashes. I think it will all be ok though.

I think this is about as high as I can get the hoses. I can maybe push them up another inch.

The parking brake will be coming out for cleaning. I still have to order some cables and stuff. Dont' worry, it's plenty enough far away from the speaker.

just shows there isn't a whole lot of room for anything else! I have one more vent hose to run and that's the easy one. But i didn't have enough hose.

Re: My '59 Apache

My knuckles hurt just remembering putting in my hoses. Good news is all that stuff gets hidden behind the 1" deep glove box. Mine came cut 60/40 from the PO for ease of installation and I just put in that way. I can't see how it could be installed in one piece.

Re: My '59 Apache

I guess it wasn't too bad, it's just my low back has been giving a little grief the past few days!

Mcknittle wrote this in NW taskForces thread to me, but I wanted to know more of what Mcknittle said. So Mck, so on the starter, there's the big terminal, then the terminal to engage the starter(close to the block), then the other terminal of which I have nothing on? What does that terminal go to? Should that go to the distributor? I've got to know!!; )

Re: My '59 Apache

Hi denee, If you are using a electronic ignition Hei or other don't worry about the extra terminal The only time I had to use it was with an old non resister coil. if everything works just ignor it

Sorry to hear about your back. my wife is going it have surgery on hers next month.

Re: My '59 Apache

EZ wire manual shows fender side terminal not used and my 64 283 with HEI doesn't use it either. Purple solenoid to the block side small terminal , 10 ga red solnoid to the big terminal.
