Re: Daverods project 66

2 1/2 hrs and $80 later. Well worth it. Thank for the idea Fry Now I have to go put the other side of my notch on. I think I changed my mind and I'm going with bags in front of my axle.

Re: Daverods project 66

Had to test fit the cross member. Went right in. The guy had it welded before I could tell him to brace it. I don't know if he did or not. By then it was to late anyways. The other side of my screwed up notch. I don't think it'll matter, other than looks. Maybe I'll weld a small piece on and smooth it down.

Re: Daverods project 66

You wont have a problem with the notch. Just make sure that in your corners it's rounded so it wont crack. I might have to cut of my old crossmember and sell it. I dont think anyone would buy it though. Looks good!

Re: Daverods project 66

Thanks Mac & Strodder. Now all I have to do is figure out a four link. Boise car show this weekend. A watts link would be a hell of a lot less work.

Daverod, how much did the crossmember end up being lowered after putting it back on the frame??

Re: Daverods project 66

1 1/2" $13.3 per 1/4" Going to a car show this weekend going to see if I can get some dropped spindles. I guess I don't really have to worry about a Watts untill I make my rear end adjustable. It looked like a good idea and the price was right. For now I'm just put the bags on. It would be nice to get everything done so I can paint my frame. . I'm looking for another truck that I can lay frame on. This truck is my practice truck/driver. I figured I'll learn as much as I can on this one. Kind a like building houses. My first house was an old one that I gutted fixed up. Now I work on nice new big ones. I amazing how much house building and truck build really have in common.

I don't have my dropped front spindles yet I should be getting them in the next few weeks I'll take some pics then. My old lady is getting sick of helping me move my frame.

Re: Daverods project 66

Just bought me a custom cab 1964 for $400. Very little rust on the cab. Says it runs. Going to get it now. Pics to come. Even comes with a big ugly camper and camper jacks -$100 .

Did I say the doors are good too. I'm going to drive it.And when the old lady pisses me off about spending to much on my trucks I'm going to sleep in the camper. Now I can build the truck I really want. Say it "Lay frame"

Now you will be able to lay frame, and put your self to bed at the same time. If you had your air bag controls (10 Switch Box) in your hand while your in bed, you can rock your self to sleep.
