i'm hijacking your page twiggy,

well here goes, 1st pic shows the fit issue i had. 10min and a cutoff wheel, no more fit problem. 2nd pic the underside as requested. its bare glass no gel. i'm thinking i saw a liner on us products website for the underside, you can't gelcoat on both sides (i don't think). 3rd pic starting to wonder if the shape of my headers is gunna burn the hood, or at least over heat. should be enough air space (again, i think) 4th pic look @ the hood (not rat on the phone) thats day light shine'n threw! i thought it was junk, and i had to drive out to cali, the kick some a**. but once the glass guy stopped by, he said it was fine. he said they just sanded though the gel and the resin that was used didn't have a dye in the catalist, wasn't thin, just transpartent. fit is not good though. somthings up i have the panel pounder coming over this weekend 2 see if i didn't aline right, or if its the hood. i think its the part, just seems to wide.

starting to think this projects never gunna end....

as for the steel hood, i forgot to get pics of it. i will.. the deal i made twiggy is good to anybody.. AS LONG AS you pick it up, and twiggy doesn't want it. i spend the time to create for him, i understand his position. otherwise i don't want 2 mess with shipping somthing that big..

A guy down the block bought a SS fiberglass cowl induction type hood scoop. He had it glassed to his Pinto steel hood. It looks like it will work, and looks great. I wonder how it will hold up and if it will crack. I'll keep an eye on it, but so far it's not cracking.

Not bad with the exception of the rear of the cowl. Atleast they gelcoated it. US Body didn't even do that.

(those clear spots are not weak, or thin... just transpartent... as it was explained to me, by a friend)

i still can understand why there isn't more that two places to get a hood from for these trucks... looks like theres room for competion!!!

fryco- that looks workable, alot better than twiggy's an some other 'junk' I've seen. you're saying it's wider than it should be really throws me, because ususally people have an issue with the shrinkage of glass, making the part to small, and gaps too big... not often do ya hear of them being wider than they should be. it does look like it's bonded well, how's the surface finish?

and yeah, just cause you can see light through fiberglass doesn't mean it weak, it's a common misunderstanding. I have a sample of high end S-glass, it's not even 1/4" thick, by an inch wide and 6-8" long. There is no way that any human could bend/twist or break it. I've even smashed it with a hammer and no noticeable damage whatsoever. and you can see right through it!!!

Twiggy I think you're a little bit everyday idea is a good one. it'll make the job less tedious doing a little at a time, and before ya know it it'll be done

Man, the things still not painted. Hood's done, just have to lay the CoolIt in and stick it. Ran into a problem with the bed supports and the gas tank but it will hopefully be in paint by Christmas.

Damn corporate business's. They work your a** off, and don't give a sh*t about you. A guy I know works at Auto Zone, and he gets 1 Holiday off a year. Christmas... woopee.

Man, I love it though. I sell tools and hardware. Plus the discount on tools helps too. Sometimes I wouldn't mind more time to do whatever I feel like but the money helps alot too. No complaints here. Plus the people that I work with are pretty cool and management really does do whatever they can to help. I'm guaranteed Christmas and Thanksgiving off and I am pretty good with the scheduling.

I get a retirement from Snap-On. I only worked for them for 9 years, and was fully invested. They have excellent bennies. I wasn't a Tool Dealer, but a Tech Rep that Demoed, sold, and trained how to use Snap-On Diagnostic shop equipment. I worked for the company. The Franchised Tool Dealers don't have the same benefit's.
Wish I never left. I was one of the top Reps in So Cal. Oh well I'm in a better place in my life right now.

Talking Updates for the '63!

Unfortunately, I've been spending way too much time sharing a seat with my ass instead of a wrench with my hand. Finally got some days off of work and school along with the actual motivation to try and get this thing done. I've got to finish up the underside of the hood (heat shield and paint) along with getting the final assembly together for paint. Once the trucks painted here in the next few weeks it's going to the local tire store to have the wheel studs, brake work, and wheels/tires put on. Then it's on to the house for all of the mechanical/finish work and the interior/stereo. But I'm sure that it won't be nearly as quick as that sounds. I've got a stainless flush-mount gas cap on the way from Horkey's and have a few tings that I hope I can get my hands on here soon too.
