Re: Plus Five

I installed the air intake set up that I made a while back.

The air draws up from the wheel well just above the A-arm.

Re: Plus Five

I also figured out my switch/indicator wiring and locations
for the transmission Overdrive lockout and "sport mode"
buttons on the dash.

Yes, they are wired thru a dimmer later.
First one is the power
2nd is the gaspump
3 is the start switch
4 is the fans
And the rest is for other options

Well, things look better in pictures.
I've read your thread a bunch of times and it looks as good as
the stuff I did. I think you even had a bit more rust.

Plus you try stuff I won't dare jump in to...like redoing a
steering wheel. nice!

Re: Plus Five

well,
I am still working on the wiring and making good progress.

I also am starting to fill all of the fluids.
so here is the question I have.

How many quarts of tranny fluid does it take to fill a 4l65E that
has a new converter and has only had the initial ounces poured
into the converter before installation on the engine?

Is it something like 10 or 12 quarts ?

Re: Plus Five

I have the dipstick and dipstick tube installed, so I should be able
to fill it slowly to the mark.

I'm guessing I can get most of it in before it is started, then
add the rest slowly?

Re: Plus Five

We had a little bit of snow this morning, so I spent some
time in the shop working on the wiring.

I made a couple of brackets to hold the headlights about where
they will go and started the wiring. They will be wired thru
relays mounted up front under the hood.

The wiring runs down the tilt frame and up to the relays. This
fuse panel is just above the pivot and mounts on the inner fender.
The fuses are for the tilt motor, high beam, low beam, horn, and
cooling fan relay.

Re: Plus Five

I had very little room for a radio in the dash because of the
space used for my wiper motor and mechanism. I decided to
use the Retrosound Model 2 and just install the face plate in
the dash and run the 9 foot extension to the radio unit behind
the seats.

It work out great as far as clearance behind the face plate,
but the install was a little more work than I expected.

The face plate is chromed plastic and is nice quality, but the holes
for the tuning shafts are at the wrong angle. The instructions say
you can bend the mounting brackets to fit, but even with that, the angles
are still off and don't allow the outer knob dash covers to fit true
to the dash contours.

I worked thru it, and made my own brackets. I also trimmed away the
plastic shaft guides to fit.

I think it looks nice now. Hopefully it will sound OK.

Sorry it took so long,
I had to dig thru my receipts to find it.

I used a Mishimoto MIO-MMTC-U

Re: Plus Five

I'm still working on the wiring under the dash, but I need to wait for
my dash speaker. The 5x7 was too big to fit nicely so I ordered a
4x8 dual cone dash speaker.

I ran the wiring for the radio inside split loom under the cab floor
thru a metal channel that I made. That will keep it away from the
power lines to and from the battery and amplifier.

The 9 foot long extension cable from the face plate to the radio was
just long enough. Plan is for two tweeters in the headliner,a dash speaker,
and two speakers in the corners behind the seats with the sub behind the
driver seat.

I also made up a foam block mock up for a sub woofer behind the seat.
The surround behind the seat and the tray is made from .060 aluminum.
I'll make a cover for it later.
