planning on making a c-notch and going with coil overs in the front of the axle. no room behind because of the watts link. will make a cross member between the notches. Keep thinking of more and more to do but want to get this done before building a bed floor.

Bad news, Drove to work today and 2 blocks from the office i pull out from a stop and just easily gas it (no more then 1/2 throttle) and hear a clunk. Shift was a little hard. Park it, get off and start the nervous drive. Check the oil after warm and its fine. hear rattling when at lower RPM's and in 1st. Then realize im reving in 1st to long and finally hit another gear, 3rd I LOST 2nd. I still haven't checked the vacuum line but with so much rattling and some grinding im positive its gone. Now how do i tell the wife? she will blame me for, "GOing crazy with it" but oh well. Ill just wait a few weeks then tell her i need to check something and OOH no, baby its broke. im debating on a TH400 or just rebuild this with stronger stuff.

Nice video. That road looks familiar. I would drive it to work. Hate the curves though, and walking up and down the mountains. We dont have that in Texas.

told her i would get a cheaper kit but she said i might as well spend the little extra now. seeing as i dropped close to $15G in the last 2 years she is pretty supportive.

Been in touch with Jake from Jakesperformance.com and he tried to push me to a TH400 but with the extra cost involved and the driveshaft needing to be cut, im staying with the TH350. He is setting me up with a 36 element intermediate sprag and the rest of the stuff for the rebuild as well as his own tricks for the valve body shifts. One hell of a guy, he returns calls fast, talks to you like a person, and has great prices. I enjoyed talking to him. Should have this all ready in about 2 weeks.

Jake has built a lot of trannies for the 2nd gen f-body guys at nastyz28, and I never heard anything negative.

seeing as the trans is out and will take a few more weeks for me to finish, i took off the headers for sandblasting and ill put a new finish on em, Rustoleum HTC good for 2000*F. will probably reroute some wires also seeing as i have the room.

Thanks Nuke, once the trans is done right, it should have a bit more kick. Got the headers sand blasted and i painted em, turned out pretty nice compared to the factory coating.

Decisions, Decisions. Im close to getting a new trans just what one. I know the benefits of the TH400 and TH350 however, with all the changes ill need to make for the TH400 to fit i could spend that in a built TH350 with hardened shafts and the whole 9 yards. I really dont want to send out my Alum driveshaft to be cut down for just a 1/2 in difference and a new yolk. Im leaning towards the Jakes Performance TH350 with the 36 element intermediate sprag and all for $1150 (Per him 750HP/TQ) and have him throw in some hardened shafts. ill guess about $1500. Where the TH400 would be $1100 then the driveshaft redone ($200) new trans x member ($60) new kickdown ($40) new yolk ($50+) and the extra wait for it all.

Not much of a cost difference there. Which one has more parasitic power losses and will be more durable after a few years of abuse? Then there is a weight difference also. What about the gearing differences and what will work better with your engine.

Overall, i like the TH350 because it does have less drag/power loss then the TH400 as well as 1.52 gears compared to 1.48 for the 400. Gearing isnt much of an issue. With both trans rated to 750 im sure id be good with either. I also do not want to buy a new TQ Converter which will add $200+.

I was w/ you on the 350 till I saw your horsepower specs & then your gonna throw a 200 shot at it? I know Your tranny guy said 750 but is he counting on 200 of it being "punched" at the drivetrain all at once?It might hold up but not for long! I would think it's gonna take A built 400 w/ that much nitrous. Just my 2

In about a week and a half, ill be heading out to pick up a TH400 from Craigshighperformance.com which is about an hour drive from me. Been talking to him a lot over the past few weeks and im liking what he does. Need to replace the cooper header gaskets as well as i have a leak after i took them off and painted them. Should be soon.

Plans to get a bed floor include some Alum sheets and a modified alum tunnel for the wheel wells. Ill get some 1x3 inch square tubes for the floor supports. Just been talking time as other stuff is taking up $$ for the summer, Trips and stuff.

Also thinking of a cam change, This SFT or a roller

I have been told by a very smart engine guy (Wolfsplace) that i need a cam with duration of 240+ with 10 or more exh @.50 A SFT would be more in my price range for the time. A roller will start @ $1000 for everything so i am leaning heavily on the SFT.....

New toy, Rated at 900 ft/lbs so i think it'll hold up. Had to get the driveshaft cut 5/8 and cost $155. Damn.... Worst part is i have a 1310 th350 slip yoke with under 100 miles and they would not exchange it for a 400 yoke. So i have $90 into this one and need another one or to trade. Check out cragshighperformance.com This trans has a 6 clutch pack, 34 element sprag, Manuel/automatic valve body, duel feed..... he worked this over and it only run me $850 for the housing and all.
