Re: Got some new wheels: Boss 338's in 20x10 and 20x8.5
Ok, just got off the phone with America's tire. He called the American Eagle (Boss) rep and they said....they said yeah they redesigned the wheel but it had NOTHING to do with the center part.
???? he said the guy on the phone had the same wheels and he just had to dent in his dust caps. ??? Am I completely off on this or is he? I thought these wheels were being redone so they'd fit our trucks with the HD rotors??????? |

Even the LD rotors will require a slight "dent" of the bearing cover. But bolting them on an "un-modified" HD rotor will not work without a spacer.

Re: Got some new wheels: Boss 338's in 20x10 and 20x8.5
They are being retooled to fit the 88-98 Chevy full size, which just happens to have the same rotor size as the '73-'87 HD brake system with a different wheel stud. I have been talking to the South Eastern rep and even spoke to one of the owners of BOSS/Eagle wheels to confirm this. They have pushed the delivery date of the wheels until the middle of November due to the new wheels that they will be introducing during the SEMA show at the end of Oct. That's all I can tell you...I call EVERY week.

Also the same as the "63-70 conversion" disc brake kits out there,... whether it's a 5-lug or 6-lug disc brake conversion. They are all the 1.25" thick rotors,... that won't work with the current design of these wheels.

Re: Got some new wheels: Boss 338's in 20x10 and 20x8.5
I have the same problems with my Boss 335.!
I found a guy at a show that was using a center cap from Eagle wheel or american race wheel on some Boss wheels and it fit nice. I spoke to the guy and he had a friend that owned a rim shop. They went through all the center caps they could find until they found a cap that fit. He was going to get me the part number but every time i call he has a problem getting the part #. I used a deeper boss center cap and broke the tabs off. Used some apoxy to glue the caps on. when you spoke to the guys at boss wheels did they say if they were working on some new center caps?? |

well thats a good thing because the 20x10s are on back order and according to the guy at Americas Tire, they have no idea when theyll be available.

Re: Got some new wheels: Boss 338's in 20x10 and 20x8.5
Benji,
Looks good, but I have a question. In the picture you show of the spacer, the spacer is off center of the rotor (due to the slotting of the spacer holes). How do you ensure that the spacer is centered when mounting the wheels? It seems that the front would have an unbalancing if the spacer isn't centered carefully. What did you do to make sure the spacer was centered? Shawn

Very nice looking truck, Benji.
What size tires are you running?

Re: Got some new wheels: Boss 338's in 20x10 and 20x8.5
Well i centered the spacer on the rotor and used a special glue, forgot the name of it, but once you bolt on the wheel the spacer goes no where. As far as tires, im running 275-40-20 on the rear and 255-35-20 in front, i still need to cut the front fenders and modify my bed to go lower when i slam the bags, but thanks for all the comments guys..

Hey Benji, your truck looks GREAT!!!
And you can use Gorilla Snot to hold the spacer in place...I've used it with great success. |

any pictures of your rotors before/after you shaved them down? How much does something like this cost to do?
