Re: Nudder Music Thread: 67-72 Music
They sound like Led Zepplin but have their own sound as well. I am always listening to newer music trying to find something different. I am not sure if someone has already mentioned them.
Greta Van Fleet https://youtu.be/aJg4OJxp-co Also a GREAT remake of Tennessee Whiskey by Chris Stapleton, new to me anyway https://youtu.be/4zAThXFOy2c

Re: Nudder Music Thread: 67-72 Music
I don't think we have heard Greta Van Fleet here yet. They are really good. From what I've heard people either like them because they sound like Led Zeppelin, or they don't like them because they sound like Led Zeppelin. I'd say they nailed the sound pretty darn close, tuned to the key of Led Zepelin. I don't care to split hairs. We are all influenced by what came before, Led Zeppelin is very long gone, and it's nice to get some more, that is new and original.
No one complains these guys are trying to sound like Led Zeppelin Then I find this! Dazed & Confused!

Re: Nudder Music Thread: 67-72 Music
Michael Nesmith of the Monkees passed away. He was my favorite of the group when I was a kid.
If you have, or have access to the Disney Channel there is a very good three-part documentary on the Beatles. My honey is not a fan of the Beatles, but she came away feeling a little differently about them after watching the doc. Lastly if you haven't watched the Heart tribute to Led Zepplins Stairway to Heaven at the Kennedy Center youre missing an excellent performance. I wasn't a huge Zepplin fan back in the 70's, was sick of Stairway to Heaven, but I do appreciate them more in my old age lol.

Re: Nudder Music Thread: 67-72 Music
I've talked about my brother-in-law Paul playing guitar in a band called The Nighthawks before, and I've played a song or two on here. You may have heard of the band. Although local to the Washington, DC music scene, the band has existed for over 40 years and they travel heavy all over the country and Europe. They have backed up better known artists, had well known old bluesmen play with them, and even Greg Allman joined them for a spell.
Well, Paul was with them over 15 years before he decided to retire. They play a whole lot of shows each week, travel a whole lot (in a van mostly), and he and my sister live in the Shenandoah Valley quite a way from Wash, DC. Mark, the leader (harmonica) and original member, said the four Paul was part of was the best band of all. They are a fun band to hear and they play all sorts of venues large and small, and always give it their best. Mark still asks Paul to join in for special shows (dual guitars are great!) or when his replacement can't make a show. I may be bias, but I think they are great a versatile foursome for a band categorized as a blues/root rock & roll band. Here is an 18 min bit from a show in a bar somewhere that I think shows a good variety. I hope you enjoy Ok, that was a small show and here is one from Wolf Trap, which is a National Park, that shows more variety. You may recognize the song

Re: Nudder Music Thread: 67-72 Music
Good stuff!
Here's one of my favorite Christmas songs by a rock musician. It's a real Christmas song that he wrote. Not a rock altered traditional song or a spoof. A true classic

I've always liked traditional Christmas songs with exception of a few, Lake's is one. Never heard that Foghat tune, great song.
Couple of odds and ends.

Then there were The Sundays from York, PA. Also near to me I do know Inya. She's new age. And I also like Celtic music. Fairport Convention preceded the current Celtic music movement by decades. Sandy Deny was the singer and Richard Thompson was the guitar player. He made his own career, first with his wife Linda, then on his own. I think because he actually was on his own . You might have noticed I have a thing for singer/songwriters outside the commercial realm. I remember listening to them in my first '72 back in '73, on cassette. Really brings back memories. Especially Kim Finley, my biggest heart throb ever!

Re: Nudder Music Thread: 67-72 Music
Tragically Hip was rock that stood out to me in the '80s, and that led me to thinking about 3 Doors Down who created rock that stood out to me around the turn of the century. Both bands from not so typical locations. Tragically hip were from Canada (sorry don't know which province or city) and 3 Doors Down from Alabama. Both created their own sound, created a consistent long list of great original music, with exceptional writing of lyrics, and great lead singer.
I'll start these guys off with what may just be my favorite rock music video ever. Maybe 'some' can relate

My son was a 3 Door Down fan... For me, the song was "When I'm Gone". For many of us who deployed to Afghanistan or Iraq, it seemed almost like a theme song.
