Re: The Old Duffer

What is the thickness of the aluminum for your tonneau cover? I assume there must be a structure underneath?

It's 3/16 and there is a frame welded to it. It's hinged at the back and has a channel that's bolted to the inside top of the bed that the tonneau sets in (makes it sit flush in the bed) that also funnels water to drains that go through the bed floor.

Making progress. Body is at the media blaster. I'm digging the chassis as it sits.

That thing is looking super-sweet!
Originally, I was going to go with the same door handles, but decided to go with none at all...

Yes that chassis does look good just by itself.

Just got my headers back from Nitroplate. Damn they look good. Nearly identical to the powder coat on the intake & Valve covers.

Those look nice. I guess you got in before they went to fulfilling only OE & high volume commercial orders?

Re: The Old Duffer

Those look good. I take it that is a high temp coating? Is it ceramic based? Those are some THICK collector flanges. What brand of headers are those? The last I saw, you had the cast Hooker manifolds.

They are Gibson headers. Yeah it's ceramic based.

Re: The Old Duffer

Got the truck back from media blast & found it was in as good a shape as we thought. Glad we didn't have any nasty surprises. Just a little rust in the foot boards.

Haha, glad you got squeezed in there! I went to look for some pricing on their website & couldn't figure out what was going on. Luckily I came across a Facebook link when I did a Yahoo search, & that led to me finding their post about no longer taking individual orders.

Looks great! Such a nice advantage having one that solid.

Only problem is now I want the rest of the exhaust done in the same coating & it's not an option.

Re: The Old Duffer

That's always a relief when parts come back from the blasters without any major surprises. I've seen all too many 'rust free' cars and truck end up looking like swiss cheese when the blasting is done....that or full of mud.

Is that exhaust coating proprietary to Nitroplate, or is it possibly a Cerakote product?

You know Capt. Fab, I'm not sure. I'll check out cerakote's site. Thanks for the heads up.
