Re: What did you do to your truck today?

Started torching/knocking the rivets out of the rear bump-stops, and bought a piece of pipe to make a sturdy c-notch.

Worked on some more panels on Jon C's big window cab and packaged & shipped some more good, used '60-'66 Chevy truck parts.

Re: What did you do to your truck today?

I had about 4 hours to spare before it got dark so I dove into the rear half of the farm truck. I replaced all the rear suspension...refurbished trailing arms with new bushings, 5 lug rearend, ECE lowering springs, etc...

I'm getting older and this stuff is getting to be hard work.

Thanks Scott. I'm concerned that the rearend will sink too low when I install the bed wood. I like my stuff to have a bit of a rake, about like it sits now. If it goes too low in the rear, I will have to lower the front some more.

I have new wheels in boxes in my shop right now. I should have them installed pretty soon.

I'm sanding on my front fenders trying to get them done and trying to round up some friends to help pull my cab off...Not much luck with that!

Kevin:

You don't look as mean in the recent photo, as you do in your avatar! Nice work on your rig though. You do in 4 hours, what most guys do in 4 days or 4 weeks.

Re: What did you do to your truck today?

Charged the battery. Ordered more parts online. Pretty lame .....

Today the wind is howling and it is snowing again. My thankful thing today is ... A Corona box full of new 2009 Goodguys, Hemmings and street rod magazines made it to my house to read this winter before I pass them around to some one else.
No bad days here.

Re: What did you do to your truck today?

I mocked up the seat for my not yet introduced 64 project. A buddy from work did the upholstrey & didn't do bad @ all for a novice (his pops does it for a living & he's trying to get into it as well). The frame & box were powder-coated satin blk; the material is 02/03 Dodge Ram stuff. The seats are just setting on the frame for pics . .....

Building a small, high rpm engine with the perfect bore, stroke and rod ratio is very impressive.
It's like a highly skilled Morrocan sword fighter with a Damascus Steel Scimitar.....

Cubic inches is like Indiana Jones with a cheap pistol.

Re: What did you do to your truck today?

I had to do a massive powdercoating job today but I did find some time for my own truck.

I cleaned and flushed the tank with muriatic acid and water mix. Then, I prepped the outside for powdercoating. After all of that nasty chemical stuff, I put it in the oven to cook it real dry inside and out. It's actually out there cooking right now at 300 degrees.

I'm waiting for my POR15 gas tank sealer to show up as well as new sending unit and gasket from Classic Parts.

Re: What did you do to your truck today?

A little more progress on Jon C's big back window cab. Should be done by Monday night. If I could get my POS Sprint wireless card to maintain its connection, I would upload several more pictures. Note to self, do not buy anymore Sprint products.

Pulled the front brakes including backing plates to rebuild with new shoes, flex hoses, bearings, wheel cylinders and turned drums. Cleaned it all up to get ready to paint and reassemble.
