Re: 4D'S "63" GMC Build

Last month I was visiting the 6066gmcguy web site and was talking with some guys about the GMC trucks and ended up buying a rear chrome 63 bumper with brackets, gravel gaurds and the plate holder from a guy. Heres where it gets funny.
The guy was from Florida and ended up being Sean, or "TwiggyTheDrummer".
Thanks Sean.

Here are some pictures of the parts and the re-conditioning process.

last picture my girls were playing with the colors on the camera.
Enjoy, David.

Nice pics and progress David. Your pics remind me I need to get a licens plate holder. I put some brand new bowtie lenses on mine to. I hated drilling them out for the blue dots.

Hey cool score. Isn't it great meeting people by accident many different ways.

Man I'm so jealous I'd love to have my kid helping me in the shop. To bad hes only 3 right now. I suppose I could stop and wait 5 or 6 years. Nah, will buy something new for him to work on.

A truck bed makes a good play pen.

It's cleaning up pretty well. Gonna be able to make something of those gravel guards?

Got the brackets cleaned, sanded and painted. Used Goof Off and removed all the bumper stickers. Then wet sanded the bumper, got most of the surface rust off. really looks good. Worked the gravel guards tonight and got them straight. Haven't worked on the Tag holder yet.

I Want to thank you again for the parts Sean.

No problem David. I know you'll put them to good use on your truck.

Re: 4D'S "63" GMC Build

Got my marker light lens in the mail Friday.
And got all the rear bumper brackets painted and installed.
Also got the bumper and gravel gaurds and plate holder installed.
My daughter is still playing with paint colors on the tailgate.

Thumbs up Nice!

Looking great David. All of it cleaned up very well for you. I didn't know that bumper even that much shine left in it.

I know you are, but the way you guys are going it will be worth the wait.
I wish I could have done a complete frame up build, I want to ride first for a year or two then do it.

I've always used Turtle Wax Chrome Polish and a buffer.

Your project is coming along nicely. I haven't checked in for a while, but I see you keep steaming ahead. I hope to see your rig in person someday. Keep up the good work and hats-off to your daughter for being such a good helper.
