Re: '60 GMC 4x4 Long Fenderside
One like this would use the stock bumper, and would work with the grill guard.
This one is just a beast! |

Re: '60 GMC 4x4 Long Fenderside
dam now thats what you need to run over some cars lol and the stock bumper one is interesting you could make something like on that green burben using the stock bumper easy enough i would think just bring it out like that one and build a top for it

Re: '60 GMC 4x4 Long Fenderside

Re: '60 GMC 4x4 Long Fenderside
Adjusted the brakes out, and took her down the road and back a couple of times, and she stops now!! One more step done!
We took off both diff covers, and found out that we have 3.53 gears in there, instead of the stock 3.92's. The ring gear has 46 teeth, and the pinion has 13. |

Re: '60 GMC 4x4 Long Fenderside
Well, we had our first teenage driver accident today. My son and I were working on the truck. He was supposed to back the truck out of the garage. He has seen me do it many times, and we have talked about what to do, and how to do it, as well as going over the basics just minutes before.
He forgot the part about ease off the clutch, and ease into the accelerator... and he forgot to put it in reverse. Not sitting in the drivers seat, it looked like reverse to me too. Before I had a chance to say anything, it was all over. The poor ladder didn't stand a chance... Neither did the sheet rock... of my rental house... So next weekends lesson will be in sheet rock repair! I know you are all concerned about the truck, she is OK, it almost scratched the paint on the bumper, but thankfully it did not! LOL So now, I can officially call him crash. |

Re: '60 GMC 4x4 Long Fenderside
I'm glad to hear it was a minor accident. That should be easy enough to repair and replace. Not making light of the situation, just glad it wasn't worse. My first accident as a teen was much worse

I just look at it as a great learning experience, where no one... other than the ladder and the wall, got hurt. I can guarantee that he will remember it, at least for a little while. LOL It was a good example of how just a little mistake, can cause great damage. |

Re: '60 GMC 4x4 Long Fenderside
very nice your lucky the truck didn't end up on the other side of the wall lol! the master cylinder took a crap on my 64 one day and it was broken for weeks and i would just creep it around and into the garage when i would work on it and one day i was comin in alittle fast and ended up using the side of the house coming in the garage door to stop destroying all the brand new white aluminum siding my parents just put in haha

Haha my sister drove through a garage door and crunched a antique dresser that was inside being refinished with her first experience using a clutch.

Re: '60 GMC 4x4 Long Fenderside
I am borrowing a trailer, so can't/don't want to, put any holes in the floor. Once I have the trailer at my house, I will drill some mounting holes in the front and rear cross supports that match up with the gaps in the floorboards, and clamp it to the trailer.

Re: '60 GMC 4x4 Long Fenderside
The side of the road had signs EVERYWHERE stating, no large vehicles, narrow tunnels, etc. The one they got stuck in was 8'-4" if I remember right. The next one they would have gotten to was even narrower. SO very glad we got on the other side of them! LOL

Re: '60 GMC 4x4 Long Fenderside
Haven't been up to much lately on the truck. Life seems to keep getting in the way.
The gas tank in my truck was full of rust, and beat up pretty badly. I scored a fairly decent tank from board member Rbar. It was ugly colored, but in good shape. The yellowish paint was peeling in some places, so we kept peeling and scraping it off. Sanded it down all nice and pretty. Primered it. Painted it with Krylon Brushed Metallic Satin Nickel paint. |

Re: '60 GMC 4x4 Long Fenderside
Then we started sanding in the back half of the cab. I figured, once the parts and pieces get here for putting in the gas tank, I should have the back of the cab ready, then we wont have to take it out again.
Before. After sanding. After the 1st coat of primer. Looks MUCH better! |
