Re: Softop installation no Holes

Thanks Rob, mine arrived safely yesterday and looks great. I also appreciate the camo look you provided free with the headers. Hopefully someday I will actually have a convertible top to use with it!

Re: Softop installation no Holes

Glad to see the parts finally showing up . Now If you want a nice smooth finish on the out side I would recommend simply adding another layer of gel coat or two and sand before you add your color paint . I would really like to see some pics of the installs. Someone might have been trying to call me last week but I was out of town and roaming calls are very expensive so if that was someone from here I invite them to try again . I would like nothing less than everyone getting premium results to their installs . Regards All and again a Happy Holidays

Re: Softop installation no Holes

Just want to let you all know I'm back from holidays and here for anyone doing your installs for support. Does anyone know if you can upload video here ? I would love to park a short video to explain the preparation needed on the corners of the Header to show how easy it is for a proper mount but I also have much confident with those of you I talked with so not too worried

Re: Softop installation no Holes

In this picture you see a dotted line where I trimmed the header down so It doesn't contact the bottom of the rain gutter. If this is contacting it means that the area around the 5/16 bolt through the visor is not mating the surface together and as such will cause stress cracks with repeated cycling on and off at the bolt. Carefully trim this area down till it does not contact when bolted down. Hope this helps Regards Rob.

Re: Softop installation no Holes

JackB your install looks great but the question above appears to apply . I may be wrong but have a close look and let me know if my eye has detected what I think I see. I aim to get every one a perfect install. Also it's a matter of preference to use the screw that goes through the seal as it serve to remove the Header quickly without that screw. I sometimes remove the Header with softop attached and pull it through to behind the seats using the roll bar as in like a "t" top rig . I can bungy the header to the bow poles at the inside of the top so I can still use review mirror. Haven't gone on the hyway like that yet but I think it's ok
Regards Rob

Re: Softop installation no Holes

This picture shows how I take the header with softop per attached and fold it back behind the seats around the roll bar bungy chording it to the underside of the top with tension pulling to the back towards the rear bow poles . If that makes any sence lol.

Re: Softop installation no Holes

That's awe sum cause the 5/16 bolt will be pulling together where it can put the correct pressure onto the seals when and if you chose to implement the seal. Great install. Will likely be quite invisible when top is on . Great job !

Here are a few of mine showing the trim Rob shows with the dashed line. A few of of a couple other odds and ends. I used pop rivets for mine, and I covered them on the backside with rubber backed canopy take to avoid any scratching.

Re: Softop installation no Holes

Looks good GibberHow do you like the it over all ? Now I have found some nuts anchored in plastic to remove the header without tools. Then I sometimes take the Header and softoppers front and fold it back behind the bucket seats and bungee chord it to the roof line inside to make the truck look like "t"top and you can still use the rear veiw mirror that way. . It works really well when you are close to getting rained on but not sure how bad for easy cover up . LOL.

Re: Softop installation no Holes

Hey Rob,

Overall I'm very happy with it. Had a friend come by to help out with the fit up, we took our time and I think it turned out great. Now that the top is down most of the time I'm going to pull it off, get it sanded down and painted.
