Re: 1950 Chevy 3600 - Bumper Punchin'

welp, we went on a 30 mile each way trip today. blew the same air line off the tank twice, but other than that, all went well. temps stayed low, oil pressure stayed in a good range, and the exhaust was LOUD!

We got the leaks all taken care of, the hood is on, the front glass is in, the bed is on (need to do the front mounts yet), the tail lights are on and working (but one brake isn't for some odd reason) and the headlights are in.

making the trip down to kirksville is looking better by the day. Just need to get exhaust done this week and we should be good. open headers may be a bit much for a 4 hour drive...

Re: 1950 Chevy 3600 - Bumper Punchin'

unfortunately my son appears to have cleared the memory card with the pics of the truck (and the pics for my gauge write up) so i'll need to get some new ones once we get some nice weather.

the cool thing is, the new pics will have a bed on, hood on, headlights and tail lights, and painted wheels with moon caps.

heh, yeah, the last week of the truck being in the garage was really irritating. tools everywhere, spending 15 min looking for one thing... As soon as the truck was out (and not leaking) it was cleaning time. so much better now that you can lay on the floor and not get covered in dirt.

Re: 1950 Chevy 3600 - Bumper Punchin'

actually, it rides pretty damn good. I have a vibration that needs to be found and solved, but that may just be an alignment. after driving ~50 miles, i noticed that the fronts were starting to cup on the outside. going to try and get it aligned tomorrow.

the trans ended up being the kick down cable bolt, and the PS was/is the pressure side on the rack. PITA to get a wrench in there, but it's down to a slow seep now.

honestly, i don't remember what day or time you were there, but we made our first casey's run saturday afternoon. this last weekend was such a blur. then add to it that i had friday and monday off... i can't hardly tell you what day we did what.

i do know it's getting exhaust right now, and that i'll be taking it on the camping trip on friday. Just need to get my alignment a bit more, well, in line, and we'll be good to go.

Cool truck man. My uncle had a 50 Chevy pickup that my brothers and I got when he passed away. We will have to do something with it one day.

Truck looks great! If I could build another truck of my choice it would be a 5 window swb 47-53.

But the question on my mind is.... what are you doing with your time now? You've pretty well have this project complete, what's next?
