Usually I have a little change from a good bonus....dang not this year, so funds are extra tight. should have some updates soon.

At least your "change" wasn't in employment.

I knew going into Dec. we weren't gonna get one like the last few years. No profit this year=small bonus. Next year will be better

Yes I am happy to have employment in tough times. Not complaining about the job....just the low cash situation. I know you can relate to that.

Re: 1969 Short Wide

Well, I got some progress this evening. Got the front control arms primered and ready for rebuilding and paint. I still have to swap out the bushings and dust covers.
Next I spent 3 hours jerking around with that pesky portable sand blaster I borrowed. It works good if you can keep pressure and media to the gun. It's very very slow and tedious. Not sure if I'm gonna do the whole frame now or just the worst spots. Got them pretty well rust free and primered and painted them with some the Rustoleum hammered finish paint. It looks pretty good. I will probably do the frame and suspension with it too. its cheap too

On to the pics:

Primered the front control arms and parts

Sandblasting.....sucks

They look great!

Yes, Sandblasting is tedious.
Sand and dirt everywhere,
In your ears, hair,
even in your shoes and pockets.
But the before and after comparisons,
show all that hard work!

Your right I showered hard core last night and still have that sand coming out of my ears, hair and eyes (need better goggles). Your front end parts turned out awesome! What paint did you use?

Yes Franky it works but my compressor is not big enough to keep a steady flow of 100psi to it. It works good though if you can keep air and sand (glass beads) to the nozzle, its just very slow going. We have a blast cabinet at work that works great for parts that fit inside. Unfortunately this stuff is all too long. We have a screw compressor that never runs lower than 120psi.

If a guy had access to a commercial compressor and tons of media it would make quick work of it.

Re: 1969 Short Wide

When I first did some blasting on my dad's frame I ended up with sand inside my cell phone. It worked it's way into every little opening. And this was while it was in my pocket lol.

I use a hooded jacket, And overalls, With a face shield.

The paint on my suspension is Rustolium Gloss smoke gray,
and Rustolium professional semi gloss black, Thinned 15% with acetone,
And shot at 28 psi.

I made sure I took my phone off to make sure that didn't happen. Been there done that.

Re: 1969 Short Wide

Update,
I have been hitting this project pretty hard last couple of days....well hard for my slow butt. I got the front cross member blasted with some new media I picked up yesterday. It's basically recycled glass. It works really good when you keep air to it. I then primed it with rust conversion primer then painted it, installed new control arm shaft kits, painted them and then started blasting the bottom of the frame. I got about half way done with it and gave up. I need to get a better face shield. Here are the pics:
